is a case study of the impact of good coaching.  I've never been impressed with Pinkle, Hawkins, and Mangino as coaches and can now add Pelini to the list.  I've always said that a good coached team could be competitive and gets their share of wins against these coaches, even with lessor talent. The coach that worries me the most in the north right now is Rhodes at ISU. We know Snyder can coach, now he needs to prove his staff can recruit. Farmageddon could get interesting the next few years.

The average college football fan doesn't understand the importance of good coaching..they think it's 95% talent when success is actually closer to about 70% talent, 25% coaching, 5% facilities. Problem is, since 2007, talent has evened out greatly across the nation, making the the coaching factor more important. Now, basketball is almost all about talent/athletes.

Rhoads looks like a good one but I still think Mangino is the second best coach in the north; the others are frauds who need to out talent there opponents to win and even that's not a guarantee.
Show me defense.

You have to give the Fat Man some credit.  But he's also got one of the best lineups of front-line skill players in the conference.

How does he go on recruiting trips though?  Does he pay for 3 seats on Southwest?

Reesing will make any coach look good.  Mangino put together a good defense when Bill Young was there but not since.  I don't see him as that good of a coach.  Look at this year's team he has a special QB and two NFL WR's and he's built not o-lline or defense to go along with them.   Going to end up wasting Reesing's senior season.

I've been saying for awhile that Rhodes is going to do a good job at ISU.  They'll whip us in Arrowhead next year and beat ku in Ames.  He's a good coach and he's been picking up some decent recruits lately.
