2 things that would've saved RP's job IMO:
1. A better defense.
2. Understanding the concept of controlling the football and clock management.
Those are two pretty basic things. I'm not disagreeing with you at all or minimizing it; it's just that it's shocking that he never really figured that out.
It's like watching a moron trying to bake a cake without eggs and flour. You just end up staring at a box of cake mix sitting in a bowl and wondering why the damn thing just doesn't turn into cake.
I think Ron just stared at the field every Saturday and wondered why they couldn't win games. It was obvious to the 45,000 people sitting in the stadium what he needed to do, but he just couldn't figure it out because he didn't know what he was doing to begin with.
QFT on both accounts..it was so painful to watch because there was nothing you could do about it but sit there and watch three incomplete passes, 24 seconds come off the clock and our sh1tty defense trot back on to the field ready to get blown off the line of scrimmage, miss tackles, not make plays and give up touchdowns, all with about 90 seconds coming off the clock. repeat.
When I first realized Prince actually truly positively knew absolutely nothing about defense, clock management or playing to your strengths and god forbid hide your weaknesses it was a sad time. Combine that with watching all of these recruits roll in with no other BCS offers and it was a cold helpless feeling. Just like watching a train wreck you can see coming from a thousand miles away with no power to stop it.
