Pollard was the19th pick of 1997 draft.
In August of 2000, he purchases a 1997 Tahoe...and finances it in KC? (Assuming he spent summers in Lawrence)
NINE years later, said Tahoe has not been paid off? Do banks even carry notes on vehicles for more than maybe six years?
It's almost like he never really purchased or owned the vehicle. Like the loan is fraudulant? Perhaps ku has owned the vehicle since 2000, and it was simply time to pass it down. Wonder if Tyshawn received a similar loan?
Reason's it still shows the loan.
1) Still paying on it (doubtful)
2) Used it as collateral on a non related loan (possible)
3) Had a loan but never had it cleared from the title (most likely but to sell the car to Taylor it would have to be released by the bank, the bank most likely still had the title and so he would have had to get the bank to send it to him.)
Agree this is the most likely. Banks often fail to release liens after retail loans are paid off (nobody has ever lent on a car for 12 years, and almost nobody lends on equity in used cars[this is reserved for Title Loan co's and other enterprises whose shadiness is in parity with uk]).
What probably didn't happen:
You can't register a car that is encumbered with a lien. Tyshawn probably found this out when he was at the DMV after Pollard took the tags off

to promptly register his new car he just bought so he wouldn't be driving around illegally and w/o tags. Then when he was all upset about not getting to pay the sales tax, tag fees, etc. he probably called Scot and said dude I need you to get the lien released on my new Tahoe, Point Plankn! Scot was all

and

at the bank. Scot then took the 1 minute it takes to call the bank and tell them to release the lien, then the bank made the necessary 8 mouse clicks to do so. Tyshawn, still standing in line at the DMV then registered the car, paid the taxes, got the inspection done, received his new tags and drove off happily.
Then Markeif was all, "Ty I need your new ride to escort some jail bait around town tonight". Tyshawn was like, "don't be muggin' here's da keys, just don't wreck it you mongaloid". Markeif was like, "bro, I'm an excellent driver, shut yo face for a hit you in da mowf, I drive slow in the driveway on Sundays".
