In honor of halloween approaching...here's your chance to tell of an experience that made you question wether ghosts are real or maybe it was just something so off the wall strange it freaked you the hell out.

The closest encounter I ever got was pretty minor but still freaked me out cuz I was the only one home.

This happened back when I was in high school. I was watching football on a Sunday and it was early evening. I laid down to watch a game and drifted off to sleep on the couch. I hadn't been asleep for more than 15 minutes and I hear the back porch door open. It was a creaky door and impossible to not make the noise of it opening without anyone in the living room hearing it. It opens, then footsteps and it sounded like my Mom took a seat down at the kitchen table just like she had done a ton of times. Was always the first thing she did when she came home. I had assumed it was my mom coming home from work as she was expected to come home at any time so I drifted off back to sleep thinking it was her.

I woke up another 15 minutes later to the phone ringing.  It was my Mom to let me know that she wasn't going to make it home that night until later as she had to work late and was going out with some friends. Since her work commute was at least 30 minutes there was no way she could have come home earlier..and she denies it to this day. Even years later after I begged her to fess up for just trying to freak me out she denies that she came home earlier in the evening. Still freaks me out thinking about it.  :frown:

ceramics class - east stadium - 2:00 Am.  one night the lights went out by themselves while I was sitting at a throwing wheel covered with mud.  I was scared shtless - turns out it was just someone fuqing with me.   But I do believe in paranormal stuff and would love to experience something.

I rented a house out by MHK with 3 roommates. The house is a 2 story built in the 1890's. One night in December the power went out during an ice storm, so we were all drinking and sitting around the fireplace to stay warm, when one of my roommates blurted out "I think I have seen ghosts in this house." One by one, all of us said "I have, too." None of us had ever said anything before.

My experience: Came home from the 'ville one night and went to bed. At about 3:00 am, I suddenly sat straight up in my bed and see a man and a woman standing at the end of my bed looking straight at me. :yikes: They were wearing early century clothing and were opaque white, just like you would imagine. They looked at each other, smiled, then looked back at me. I immediately laid back down and put the covers over my head for about 2 seconds, then peeked back out. They were gone.

Another saw the same 2 as I had, but only for a split second.

Across the hall from my room, a roommate was asleep  then woke up to see 3 people looking through the clothes in his closet. He said "what are you guys doing in here?" thinking it was us, but when he jumped up and turned on the light, there was nobody there.

I had always been a little freaked walking around that house when I was alone and it was dark, but after I saw them, I was cool with it. 8-)

    I may be full of sh*t, but i won't be de-turd.
Personally have never had any weird things happen, at least where i was positive it was a ghost. Know a guy who swears his house was haunted growing up. They even had a name for him. Toys would randomly turn on, doors making noise, chairs rocking. They would just tell him to stop it and the noises would stop. Even said they saw him a couple times. I always doubted it, but the whole family pretty much had seen it. Hard to knock it ya know?

I will admit i still get freaked out watching those ghost shows on Travel Channel or w/e. I know they add sounds to make it entertaining, but i still get goosebumps.
I walk out of that tunnel in this building and the passion of our fans, just gets me going. I mean just gives me an adrenaline rush that you guys just don't understand. - Frank Martin

You and your buddies were under the influence of alcohol and other (possibly controlled) substances.  Not judging, just pointing out the obvious.

LSOC debunks another.  Professional debunking going on in this thread boys.  Step right up and get your bunk sent home.

It would eventually still end up the same way, chasing the slut out with a broom and going back to bed.

Same house, 3 occurrence.   Saw this faintl old (I think) woman in a white gown in my doorway facing in, I could see through her and she almost had a glow quality.  Hid my face, pinched myself, confirmed awakeness, looked out after a minute or so and she's still there, repeat above, she's gone.  See her again some time later but she's facing the linen closet and just fades away.   Had a freakin DEMON come flying out of my closet directly at me as I was in the top bunk, I screamed so loud and so fast that it just turned out flew out the window between us.  This thing had frackin fangs, claws, the whole shibang.   Think that's it, oh no, it's the first house I bought right out of high school in our little town, had a few people tell me they saw the woman.   My dogs would not go in that room, you couldn't make them, drag them, they wanted nothing to do with it.  People I bought it from I'd told about my experiences growing up and they laughed, said "so that's why the girls wake us up screaming" ha ha ha, I didn't find it so frackin funny.  Debunk that LSOC    :pirateskull:

Junior year of college my keys go missing. Not just misplaced, either. Straight up gone. I couldn't find them for two weeks. I turned my room upside down, checked work, checked the apartment and nothing. They were gone.

Moving on. Me and my roommates, "Hey yaaaaa' do you want to eat some mushrooms?"

Yaaaa':  :fatty: :woot:

It had been a good 6 months since we had done mushrooms it so I wanted to get prepared. I went ahead and did precautions as best I could: I put my cell phone away, cleaned my room, hid my halloween/date party costumes, put away markers - basically insuring to myself that I wouldn't end up on my floor in costume with a flash light looking for dinosaurs, and drawing intricate maps on my wall in permanent marker or whatever by the time I started tripping.

So, I completely shut my room down for the night -  close the door and turn off the light to go outside and eat the drugs with my two roommates who are waiting. Fast forward about an hour and are starting to laugh and get all ansy. We decide that maybe we should go for a walk and explore for a bit. We all hop up out of the chair s and head to our rooms to get ready. I open the door, flip on the lights, and immediately my eyes are drawn to the keyboard on my desk. Sitting right on them are my keys delicately placed - in a spot, where someone wanted me to see them.

My roommates had been with me the whole time. No one came over. Probably a alien or something, right? LSOC?

My freshman year of college I was hanging out with this chick from work.  I hung out alot at her place which was this great big old house probably from the late 1800's or so that had been split into several apartments.  Supposedly it had been used a hospital or nursing home or something like that way back in the day.

Anyway, we would be in her bed   just about to fall asleep and the bed would move like someone had grabbed the foot of the bed and shaken the mattress a little bit.  This happened once or twice per night a few times.  Another creepy occurrence was looking thru her bedroom door into the kitchen, seeing the little digital clock built in to the front of her microwave, and seeing the numbers disappear briefly as if someone or something had walked past it.

So finally I told her of these weird events and asked her WTF was going on.  She said "Oh, that's just Oscar, he likes to shake the bed to be playful"  Apparently there was a "ghost" named Oscar that roamed around in her building, the people in the other apartments were aware of this too and seemed cool with it.  From that point on I limited my hangouts at her place to daylight hours, when the sun went down I got the hell out of there.

Still not sure if I actually believe in ghosts though......just that I saw and heard some freaky stuff.

not an actual ghost story, but a supernatural one...

The summer after my freshman year on one bright sunny day I start to feel really uneasy... like mentally and physically weird. The day went on and I developed some feelings that one of my friends back in my hometown (600 miles away) was going to be in a accident. I literally told my roommate that one of my friends was going to die, and like any normal human would, he just looked at me really weird. The next morning I wake up at 6am for absolutely no reason and i am wide awake... I get up about 30 min later as I heard my roommate getting up for work and told him that I just woke all the sudden and could not get go back to sleep. That morning, I called one of my good friends to make sure everything was ok... no answer, so I left a message. The day goes on and I am still having overwhelmingly bad feelings... The next morning my hometown buddy calls me back, and the first words out of his mouth are... quote "Dude, you're never going to believe what happened"... I responded with the exact phrase "who died???" and he told me that our friend Ryan was dead and tried to explain what happened.

When I told my roommate later that day, he literally turned pale. I dont know what to say or think, but I know that it fuq'd up! And that is a true story.

Well, those who know me know that I am -- if nothing else -- a man of reason and skepticism.  That being said, there is only one incident in my life that still makes me shudder in that primal, scared-animal fashion when I think back upon it.  While most people say there is some image that they will never forget, that they can't get out of their mind, for me it's a sound.  No matter how hard I try I cannot forget the sound I heard that night.

It was pretty late, pretty close to 1:30 AM, and I had just left the Allison Lab on Auburn's campus after I finally got some bit of code finally working.  Because of Auburn's ridiculous parking policy, I had been walking to and from my apartment which was about a 35 minutes away.  It was mid-February, and a bit chilly, not too bad though since this is in the Deep South, so there was a bit of fog in the air.  I was also a Tuesday night, so whole city was basically silent, even when I walked by Toomer's Corner (which has a couple of bars next to it, but they tended to close earlier).  If you've been to Auburn (or really anywhere down south), you undoubtedly noticed because of the many overgrown trees that umbrella the street, the nights there get pretty damn dark.   Because of this, I was in the habit of being very careful where I stepped as to not trip over the notoriously uneven sidewalks, so my focus pretty much on not breaking my ankle in middle of the night.  Anyway, I had walked past Toomer's Corner and turned the corner into a residential area.  It must have been a couple of blocks before I noticed that I heard a faint second set of steps crunching the leaves behind me.

I am sure many of you have been in the same situation, where you hear someone walking behind you, but don't want to be all conspicuous and turn around to see whose following you.  I mean, I didn't want to seem like some paranoid crazy-ass, so I just pretended not to notice and kept walking, but now my full attention was on the steps behind me.  I reached a small intersection, deserted of course, and hoped who ever was following me would turn off along the more populated street.  For about a minute, I heard nothing.  I was pretty relieved actually, and though myself to be quite silly for getting anxious.  But then I heard them again, and I had to turn around now, appearances be dammed.

About thirty yards behind me was a small black boy, couldn't have been older than 8, wearing nothing but a pair of brown cloth shorts.  As I said before this was the middle of February and pretty chilly out, so I was pretty &@#%ing surprised to a small, shirtless, shoeless kid out in middle of the night.  He stopped when I turned around, so I figured he saw me, but he looked behind him and then started walking towards me again.  I have to be honest I was a bit freaked out by know, I figured something terrible had happed somewhere and the kid needed help, but I just couldn't get my body or voice to do anything.  I just stood there are watched him come toward me.  When he was quite a bit closer, I could see him more clearly.  His legs and feet were covered in red scratches and dried mud, and his shorts looked they were made of burlap of something.  I also noticed that he was looking right through me, his eyes were focused on something far away, he seemed to be sleep walking or in a daze, but every once in a while he'd look behind him.  When he was about ten yards away I finally got up enough courage and walked toward him asking if he needed any help.  It was if I was never there, he didn't notice me at all, and didn't hear me.  His expression never changed, just this blank look and walking forward.  He walked right past me.  At this point in time a lot of what happened next is a bit of a blur, as if I wasn't there experiencing it first hand but watching from a third point of view, so the details get muddled, but I know I noticed two letters branded on his shoulder: "AF".  Now I had to know what the hell was going on so after the boy had passed me, I took a step and touched his shoulder. It was red hot to the touch.  He turned around and looked, but not at my face, but his gaze settled behind the right shoulder.  His pupils expanded to as big as his irises and then his mouth opened wider than any mouth I have ever seen open before.  Then came the "sound".

It was (and still is) the most terrifying thing I have ever heard.  It was like someone rewinding a tape recorder crossed with a train whistle and just as loud.  I have never heard another human or animal make this sound.  I don't know exactly how long it lasted, but it seemed like at least thirty seconds.  I was scared of what he was "screaming" at behind me that's for sure, but the sheer look of terror on his face and that sound scared me more.  I was frozen in fear until he stopped, well the sound stopped, his face remained unchanged, mouth wide open.  I turned around, expecting to see God-know-what.  Nothing.  When I turned back around, nothing.  He was gone.  My knees buckled and I fell down and puked all over somebodies lawn.  I was shaking pretty much uncontrollably for about five minutes.  When I finally came to my senses, I expected to see all the lights in the neighborhood turn on, I mean that was very very loud noise that kid made.  Nothing  turned on.  As you might expect I was scared crapless and ran home about the fastest I have even run in my life. When I finally got home I thought I'd never fall asleep, but once I got in bed I basically passed out.

When I woke up the next morning, it felt like what happened the night before happened a long long time ago.  It still does, but I know it was only 4 years ago now.  I still don't know if I believe it ever happened, it just seemed like it happened to someone else.  The only time it seems real is when I remember that awful sound.

As I said before this was the middle of February and pretty chilly out, so I was pretty fracking surprised to a small, shirtless, shoeless kid out in middle of the night.

I have a story kind of along these same lines.  I was walking along leavenworth in Manhattan.  Where fairchild and leavenworth come together there is this wooded area.  Anyway, I was walking and I heard these footsteps in the brush.  I looked but couldn't see anything so I kept walking faster and faster.  My heart was racing and the sound kept getting closer and closer.  Finally this dog ran out and he was really friendly.  I bent down and he licked my face and I petted him for a while.  He followed me for a while after that but I told him to go so he turned around and started the other way.

Your parents disliked you, at least at that point in time, and told you scary stories then put something in your food/drink.

I just laid a capital D on your small bunk.

LSOC?

You had a rat, or a colony of rats.  When you cleaned your room, you disturbed them and one got all squirelly and dropped the keys on your desk.

Bunk, meet De.  You 2 have fun together.

About thirty yards behind me was a small black boy, couldn't have been older than 8, wearing nothing but a pair of brown cloth shorts.  As I said before this was the middle of February and pretty chilly out, so I was pretty fracking surprised to a small, shirtless, shoeless kid out in middle of the night.
