"We have the best team we've had since I've been here. I expect us to get deep into the tournament this year. I'd like to get to the elite eight. The Sweet 16 would be good. I think we could win this conference too.

"I think it's between us and ku."

I agree.

Thoughts?

Pullen has always been a cocky mofo, IMO.
Of course you need some cockiness and 'tude to play at a high D-1 level, so I don't have a problem with it.

Now he's just gotta back it up.

I think it would take 14-2 for K-State to win the Big 12.  If that happens, we'll likely go into the tournament ranked in the top 10.  I wouldn't hold my breath.

That said, expect a record number of conference wins.

#2 or #3 seed would be awesome!  :ksu:

    Hey, basketball!!!
He also said about Texas:

Quote
"People have Texas projected high with what? A bunch of freshmen? All they have coming back is Pittman and Johnson."

Pure EMAW with some fireworks for the CTR right there...

It should definitely be us and uk at #1 and #2 in the conference. Should be no worse than a #3 seed in the Dance?

The big 12 will be extremely tought his year.  I'd be happy with 10/11 wins, play on the second day of the Big12Tourney and anywhere from a 6-9 seed in the Dance.

First round Big 12 bye is what the goal should be.  We do that for a 4th straight year and we are in good shape given the quality of the league.

    I survived the Dickey/Parrish era.
Win it all in Puerto Rico.  Don't come back.

Attempt to be the first Peurto Rican team to get an automatic bid to the dance.

Breaking the geographical divide -- tearing down barriers of race and culture.

Yeah, I hope our fans don't get too crazy.  We certainly could contend for the league and I hope we do, but double digit leauge wins should not be a disappointment.  Only disappointing if we don't hit 10 league wins (top 4) or 20 overall wins.  JMHO.

I'm not sure any fans are expecting 13-3.  But, I do think 10 conference wins is a benchmark.  This year's freshman class is the second most talented group KSU has ever recruited.  Our upperclassmen are the most talented, experienced collection of players KSU has had in two decades.  We finally have a couple of legitimate big men.

If this team goes 9-7 I am extremely dissapointed.  10-6 is also mildly dissapointing.  FRankly, I think this team should be 12-4 or 11-5.  If we take care of business on the road and win the games we should, I wouldn't be surprised with 13-3.

Ultimately, anything less than +20 wins, top 4 in conference, and NCAA bid is extremely dissapointing IMO.

What was the milestone Frank had to ask unds about, something about 17 wins this season?

This.  Would also be a little disappointed if we never broke into the rankings this season.

The Big 12 will be tough this season but we get the Nortards twice, unlike the South teams who are supposed to finish ahead or right behind us. I have seen a few people pick A&M ahead of us, which I don't see happening because they are in the South. This team has a lot of talent and should finish in the top 4 of the Big 12. I would be pleased with a Sweet 16 appearance.

Can't wait for bball season  :ksu:

Yeah, I wouldn't disagree with any of that.

I'm actually hoping that this team can go 12-4 in the league.  Hopefully 11-2 in the OOC.  At least 1 win in the league tournament, maybe play on Saturday.  24-7 would be a pretty amazing season.

Sorry but you guys are freaking delusional. Don't get me wrong, I can't wait to be sitting in section 6 all season and we're going to have a tremendous team, BUT...

The B12 is gonna be a total meat grinder. We'll lose a couple to the nortards (-2), one to the racists (-3), and lose to three teams in the south (-6).

So that's 10-6 in a conference where it's likely at least four if not six teams will find their way into the top 15 at some point during the season. Ten wins is probably optimistic. There will probably be an 8-9 win team from the B12 make the dance. Could be us. :skillz:

You are an idiot.

LSOC,  I think unds was saying that 17 wins would make this senior class the winningest senior class in KSU history.

Yes.  17 wins would make this the winningest 4 year period in the history of K-State hoops.

Splitting with the South AND losing 2 to the Nortards, should be worse case, not a given.  Any worse than that just means we aren't very good, and there is no way we would make the tournament at 8-8.  (baring a sweep of ku AND a win over Texas. Even in that case we're a buble-in team.)

    I think therefore I think I'm hungry
I also think 10 wins is a good target for this team to shoot for. Beating ku or MU away is not going to happen. Beating ku at our place is going to be tough. I could also see us losing another away game in the north. So that's potentially 4 loses. Then we have to go to Baylor and OU which are two places that we've not performed well in the last few years. Also lets not forget that we have a fairly tough start to the conference schedule. We start @MU where they get to totally kill on defense because the refs throw away their whistles. Then home to Tech and they usually don't collapse until a bit later into the season. Then off to CU and then UT at home. I think i'd be happy going 2-2 through that stretch. However, if we make it through that any better than .500, then we can start getting excited. I could see us having an amazing season and finishing with a loss or 2 in conference, but that would require a ton of things to fall our way...and i've been EMAW long enough to know that the ball usually bounces against us.

An 8 or 9 win team with 7 games against NU, ISU, CU & TT just isn't very good.  If you think we're going to be mediocre, just say so.  Losing to all the good teams means you aren't good.
