I almost wept on multiple occasions.  It was one of the most EMAWvents I have ever been to.

Frank likes the leadership the older guys are showing.  He never worries about fights when he travels (laugh moment).  The guys police themselves.  Recruiting is going well and his inroads he has made will be paying off.  People are talking about what we are doing in Manhattan.  Keep his wife happy and he will be in Manhattan for a long time.  He feels grateful to Weefs and Krause for giving him the shot so he won't run them down but so far Currie and Schultz have indicated they want to be first and will do what it takes.  Dicsussions about the practice facility are private but he believes in his heart that it will get built.  Team wise, we run really well.  Like ridicuously well.  Said in years past defending above the rim was non-existent but now every time a shot goes up there are several "big mitts" up there.  Said our younger big men will compete with anybody in nation (paraphrase).  Macgruder and Russell compliment each other well.  Believes in working harder than everyone.  He has been doing Catbacker tours with Snyds and Snyds has really shown him "it's about the people" (tearful moment).  The Big XII is ridiculously loaded but that is never a reason to not win it.  3rd place is not good enough for him or anyone wearing purple.  Denis broke a bone in his hand but will be back.  C-Kel lost a lot of weight.

C-Mer.  can't believe he is a senior now.  Team looks good.  He helps where he can etc.  Not a whole lot more to say.  Was working the room in a Clent Stewart type manner.

C-Kel.  Star of show.  Tlaked about New York and how Manhattan is so incredibly different but in a way that helps him work hard at basketball and school.  Talked about time at Uconn.  He is working harder than he ever has but likes it more than ever.  Really sounded sincere when he said it has been a huge change but made him a better man and player.  Several "awwww" moments.  Also did kind of a dance to show how skinny he was later in evening.

JamSam.  Handsome.  Moves like mercury sliding down an ice luge.  Said same things about everyone working hard.  Said they would play freshmen early on (to 7 counting 1's and 2's) and destroy them, usually shutting them out, but now they may even lose once in awhile.  Excited about season and wants fans to turn out.

Jake.  Taking on leadership role.  Embraces it.  Made several jokes about getting yelled at.  Talked about "flipping tires" and getting texts from coach.  He is the leader of this team.  Also talked about how he wouldn't change coming to KSU for the world.  Has friends in the NBA like Bill and Mike and it is a great feeling.

Unds looked sharp.  Hung out by the bar, drinking diet coke.

Lots of blue hairs.  An olive branch was extended by Lon to Pete in a very public way.  I never noticed how short Kietz is.  I drank a wagonload of beer.

Some old guy got an award, started what Pete and I assumed would be a jab at Frank for yelling/swearing on sidelines that had Pete sweating and my heart rate up but turned out to be a joke.  Watched some black and white footage of said old guy.

I will now take questions from the floor.

do you honestly believe that undy was just drinking diet coke? thanks.

Martin said Luis has a broken hand.  NOT Denis.

Said Nick Russell was running through a screen and Luis' hand got caught in an awkward position.  Broke a bone in the center of his hand.  Didn't seem overly concerned that he'll be out very long.

Didn't mention Denis at all.

I (for one) appreciated the report.  PM any elite information to me.  Completely understandable that you could mix up the boricuas.  Thanx.

we made fun of several people but our mischief got side tracked by the Backers attempt to bring us into the fold.  The closest to stupid was when I thought the old player was going to ask Frank to stop swearing on sideline.  No arguments really.

Did you slap the guy that asked our beloved HC to publicly talk about recruits by name? Thanks and I'll listen off the air.

They (all coaches) talk about them all the time.  Just not to the media.

Was a good event.  Lsco's write up is dead on, except it was Luis who hurt his hand and not Denis.  JFC lsoc, you are better than that.

Here are my take aways:

More on Louis....Frank when into great detail about the hand injury.  He pointed out that the injury is to a bone in the palm of the hand, and not the type of injury that is thought of as a "puncher's injury"  ;)

Keitzman's buddy, Powercat Tony, was the one who asked Frank how Frank felt about Tony Mitchell's mother.  As stated in an earlier post, Frank didn't touch this.

~Wabash Rolll~ was there with his peeps.  Fun crew of guys.  If you ever get a chance to speak with Wabash Roll about secrety insidey basketbally info, you owe it to yourself to do it....dude is a treasure trove.  Best two nuggets I can share are that CK enjoys buffalo wings from Hooters, and if you want to win the favor of a certain recruit's Mother you better have 6 figures.

Underwood is very, very aware of Kellis, and now very, very aware of how I feel about Kellis.

Frank said that Jake weighs the same as an in-shape Sherron Collins now, but is muscular.  However, in the buffet line Jake admitted to lsoc that he shouldn't be eating the potatos, but since Greenawalt wasn't there he would eat some.  Lsoc nearly slapped the potato wedge out of Jakes mouth...lsoc is a huge Greenawalt fan.

CK is the most talented of the players who attended at acting like he cares what old white people are talking about.  All were quite good at it though.  Very impressive.  I haven't seen such skillful disguised old white people patronization since the heady days of Aaron Schwartzendruberstein was hitting the catbacker rubber chicken circuit.  Good kids....they "get it."

Also, if you find yourself in a situation where you are thinking about asking Frank if the "Assault and Gaucho relationships will remain fruitful," don't do it.  He will unfortunately not recognize this as a compliment and instead mistake it for some minimalization their recruiting prowess and lecture you for like 20 minutes on the history of every assistant coaches recruiting experience...which is very fine, BTW...but totally not what you were implying or asking him.

The bar ran out of cold miller lites when I was drinking miller lites so I switched to mich ultras and wouldn't you know it, they ran out of ultras.  Weird.

Old cat fans are just learning that the "fist bump" is what young folks do to show approval.  There were multiple awkward fist bump attempts around.

Tough to answer...

Our group discussed this and came to the conclusion that an "outfoxing attempt" has been made, but the results are yet to be determined.  This is chess, not checkers.

Christ, just explain what they said/did and how you reacted.  For example:  Did Lon tell some especially racist joke while handing you a free Miller Lite and you laughed like it was funny and then hugged?

A couple additional items from the event:

Hi-lights:

Pete and Limestone looked tremendous.  Both had a nice ensemble going that really complimented the overall high level of dress from our group.  Catbackers event or Brooks Brothers catalogue shoot?  It was literally hard to tell.  Pete really accessorized nicely with some purple shoes that caught the attention of many in attendance, mostly older men.

Delicious offering of food.  An especially tender and savory London Broil.

The questions that came from our table were incredibly poignant and insightful.  You could tell Frank was a little taken aback at the insider knowledge and high level intelligence in general that came from our group.

Brad Underwood.

Watching the help bus our table after the event.

Lo-lights:

Limestone’s listening ability.

All in all, an incredible experience.  If your battery wasn’t charged full of EMAW after that one, nothing will.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.
