When Tre Walker committed to Kansas State early in the recruiting process many people wondered how talented he was. But now after a monster game against Shawnee Mission Northwest last Friday night, it's clear the Wildcats landed a talented prospect with major upside.

Tre is turning into a MONSTER get apparently. Someone with a membership to Rivals, paraphrase (in your own words) what this article is all about.

paraphrasing "I'm committed to kansas state, but I'm going to look around a bit, but I'm committed to Kansas State".  Also, in related news, he's visiting MU.  So, yeah, good luck at MU next year Tre.

If Tre jumps ship - I will not be nearly as destroyed as if Demarcus jumps. Demarcus could redshirt next yr behind DT - and would be seasoned to take over in 2011 with 4 yrs of elig left!!!  :woot:

Well, ku is ranked 7th in the country in rushing offense.  If you were a running back, would you want to play behind a good, young o-line, or a crappy, no-talent line like K-State's?

Ben, you have played NOBODY!!! You do realize that with posts like this, you look more and more like an erection with ears.

Yeah, K-State is a horrible 28th in the country in rushing offense, behind a "crappy" offensive line.

Just think how the running lanes would open up if we had a QB who could actually complete passes.

You never cease to amaze me, 'Pad.  The 3-star LB you're referring to is out of Oklahoma, actually, and his name's Trayvon Henry.  Take a look at his Rivals' profile.  He's a 5.7 3-star, whiche means he's .1 points away from being a 4-star.  The kid has offers to Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Arkansas, Texas Tech, Louisville, etc.  He's the 19th ranked inside linebacker in the country.  Compare that to Tre Walker, a 5.5 3-star, with one offer (K-State) and no national ranking.

Walker was recruited by Nebraska, will trip to Missouri, and from what I hear his phone is blowing up now . . . you never cease to amaze me with how you constantly vacillate on things like recruit rankings so it will fit your absurd logic.   One minute recruit rankings are the be all and end all . . . the next, they're just a "guide".

UTEP 101st in Total Defense 0-2
UNC . . . hey they finally won a game, beating mighty San Diego . . . rated 77th in total defense in the FCS

Holy sh*t.... Nebraska and Mizzou gave him a sniff?  That's impressive.

PS.  LOL @ bagging on UTEP and Northern Colorado when K-State barely beat UMass and lost to Louisiana-Lafayette.

I don't see us redshirting anybody that is the quality of ballplayer Robinson is.  Yeah, during the DoD we would have, but...  Plus, few teams do that anymore.  Unless you have 5 All Americans in your backfield like a USC, you're going to give those 4 star guys some carries their freshman year.  Hell, we've been playing Tremaine Thompson some here and there, and I don't think he's even seen the ball yet.

True. Seemingly DT has the potential to blow up this season and definitely next season... logic being if we have that caliber of back, there would be no reason not to redshirt DR.

Daniel Thomas . . . 12th in the country in rushing, behind an offensive line that still learning a new system, against teams stacked up with 8 or 9 in the box . . . and I agree, there's no reason not to look long at and hard at playing Robinson right out of the gate.

So this Walker kid is visiting Missouri?  That sucks for a couple of reasons.  One the kid is good and we obviously need athletic LB's.  Two his cousin is a good DT from Oklahoma that has narrowed it down to us and Missouri.  The only chance in hell I thought we had with the DT was coming to KSU would give him a chance to play with his cousin.  Now it looks like Walker going to MU may give him a chance to play with his cousin.

Hey, if one or more of the freshman RBs we have are capable of being a solid second option at the spot, I'm all for redshirting a talented play at this point in our program.  But the fact is, most teams do split carries at the RB spot.  It's asking so much of one guy to take every snap.  He'll be facing defenders that are substituted in and out throughout the game, and he'll typically wear down somewhat during the game.  You look at dudes like an Adrian Peterson, and even he splits the workload with Chester Taylor.  Plus, it's a nice thing to be able to bring in a slightly different style of runner now and again.  I really don't remember the last back we had that didn't split time back there.  Sproles, I guess?

Not sure I follow your logic here.  The cousin has narrowed his choices to us and Mizzou.  Tre has already been committed to us for quite some time.  Yet, you think that there is a greater chance that Walker will decommit and sign with Mizzou than there is that his cousin will simply sign with us?  Seems like both kids would have a chance to play right off the bat here and we look like we're putting together a decent incoming class next year, especially considering the two transfer kids we have sitting out right now.

VT, VMFT. Sproles was a beast - a little beast - but d00d was one of a kind.

It certainly has nothing to do with Thomas not being a stud.  But, putting talented kids on the filed will help us get better sooner than redshirting those kids.  Also, we play 7 games on the road next year.  Having someone to spell DT sometimes will probably actually increase his performance.

agreed, IMO - players want to play. I will never understand the logic of sitting on the bench of a good team - I would want to play and these guys have to know that they will get serious playing time here.

Yes I guess I am saying there is a greater chance that Walker will decommit and sign with Missouri then his cousin will simply sign with us.  Hope I'm wrong but once a kid starts looking around it rarely seems to turn out well for us.  We also just got beat by a Sunbelt school that doesn't help either from a perception point of view.

Also his cousin has been an MU lean all along.  I thought we had a shot only because KSU was the only school offering both him and his cousin.  IF MU offers Walker then obviously that is no longer the case.

this.  i'm pretty sure it's one of the reasons that MU will offer Tre.  "you two want to play together on a top 25 program ....  or ksu".
