Just when you think Doc can't get any better...

He does...

Nebraska can have 14 scholarship players on its 2009-10 men’s basketball roster, thanks to an NCAA waiver a member of Nebraska’s compliance staff said is extremely rare.

Cannot get over that the background to that story is Memorial.  I'm sure we are the only people who have even read that article.

niemann will take the mandated redshirt.  which isn't even a penalty since he is out for the season with an injury anyways.

pisses me off.

I think our super sweet K-State folding chair will do a good job of sticking to him -- assuming he chooses to travel with the team.

And we consider Judge skinny.  For reference Henriquez is listed at 245.  He is 7ft though.

    Knows What Brent Did...
Great Nub fan comments on Niemann injury (srlsy not making these up/cutting and pasting slthy quotes from the main thread):

Quote
Poor Doc, and the fans.  We finally have some height on this team, and this happens.  I'm very pleased with the progress coach has made with this bunch of kids (especially defensively), but he hasn't had the bodies to match up in the Big 12 since he was hired.  This is another crushing blow to another hopeful season.

I know we're making progress.  I even remember reading somewhere that the rest of the Big 12 coaches voted that they hated playing Nebraska the most because every game with the Huskers is a defensive struggle.  And that's all coaching.   But at some point, we have to get a lucky break, go into the season with some height, and get some offense going.

Quote
There will be other newcomers this year that will add some height that just wasn't there last year. Doc has proven he can coach the players he gets. Especially on defense. I'd just like to see some better outside shooting on a consistent basis. Progress is being made, but the BIG XII is such a cut-throat conference that the bar is raised nearly every year in terms of competition.

Maybe they hurried Niemann back a bit too quickly? Just a thought.

Maybe Toney McCray will be more consistent this year. He showed so skills at times last year as a frosh.

Another great reason to be a Nebrasketball fan?  It infuriates Nebraskans.  They hate NU hoops.  They are all Creighton "fans".

Common thing heard by sd during basketball season:  Altman left KSU for Creighton on his own terms because Creighton was a step up job.

Not joking here folks.

Always a good EMAW turnout to watch us humiliate ourselves.  I have a feeling this is the year though (< say this every year).

For Altman it was a step up from sucking to not sucking.  He took that Arkansas job too until he remembered what happened the last time he ventured into the deep end.  Guy was made for the valley.  And to his credit he realizes it.  But yeah most NU fans are that stupid.

Yeah, Nebrasketball alreay had their version of Dana Altman.  His name was Barry Collier, thought Dana could probably do as well as Doc is doing.
