Decided on "In the Presidents Secret Service".  About some dude that talked to over 100 or so secret service dudes and wrote a book about it.  Don't really know why, Amazon said I would like it.  Also, picked up Becks, Common Sense.  Think he is a doucher, but wanted to see what all the fuss was about.  Probably won't read that one anytime soon, it was cheap and I needed to get above $25 for free shipping.   :dancin:

Read the second part or Common Sense.  That is the original by Thomas Paine.  Then read the first part.  Just because you don't like him, doesn't mean there aren't some tremendously valid points within.

I'm guessing Beck's thesis is that "Conservatives Rule, Liberals Drool."    :blank:

How about "Don't spend more than you make?"

and

Republicans and Democrats both suck.

you should be president, but should also have your ass kicked for turning my book thread into a political thread.   :nono:

I've suggested a non-political book in this thread.  I didn't even mention Common Sense.  I wonder who did that.

Here's another book that many on here could get some great benefit from:  The Bible.

I'm actually reading Atlas Shrugged right now.  It's probably the sh*ttiest, book I've ever read.  I seriously read it when I want to take a nap.  The story is somewhat interesting, trying to figure out who John Galt is and all that stuff, but overall, the writing is just brutal.

Also reading "Confederacy of Dunces".  It's fantastic.

Daris, you read Freakonomics?  Quick, easy read, similar to Gladwell.

I'm getting real sick of Gladwell.  He is now writing something every month in the New Yorker, and it's all the same type of analysis.  His method breaks down when he applies it to more and more obscure stuff -- this week he is arguing that Atticus Finch was not in fact an activist.  It's not very convincing, and who cares?  He's fictional.  Link

I can see getting sick of gladwell.  He did an article about the full court press a while back that was kind of stupid, too.
