I think the big deal is not so much the taste, but the choice to go w/o pesticides, hormones, etc.

I certainly can not tell the difference between organic and non-organic.

You have to let your field sit there for like 3 years without using any chemicals and then get it "certified" to grow your organic crap which is harder to grow and yields less. That's why a vast majority of food grown is non-organic...the free market says it's not economical and thus a stupid thing to do.

Organic produce is a huge scam. Unless you grow it yourself, you have no way of knowing how your "certified organic" apple was grown. I don't trust those carney looking dudes at the farmer's market.

Actually, the organic food industry is a great example of the free market working perfectly - goods that are more difficult to produce are sold at a premium to people who see added value (whether the value is real or perceived is irrelevant).  If it can be produced in China at a fair price, people will buy it from China.  No one is trying to say all food should be organic, or suggesting to anyone that they should have to buy it.  It is simply the free market at work.

Hey, if you like "organic" food, knock yourself out, enjoy paying the premium prices for food that at is core is no better for you than the "evil" genetically altered pesticide food.   The outcomes of any type of "mass" organic farming is far more energy consumption per pound of food produced, and the fertilizer "source" for organic food produces copious amounts of the dreaded "greenhouse gases".
