Former Free State High guard Douglas Compton will be part of ku’s program in some capacity this season. It’s been speculated on the Internet he’ll be a walk-on player. Self said nothing’s been officially decided yet.

“Douglas has come to me and expressed a desire to be a coach and he will be involved in our program in some form or fashion. I really don’t know what the job responsibilities will entail,” said Self, who has known Douglas for several years through friendship with Douglas’ dad, Lawrence businessman Doug Compton.

“I’m looking forward to having him around like everybody involved in our program — players, managers, office help. We are going to try to figure out a way he can be involved with our program through different duties. I don’t know what they will entail at this time.”

agree with SD.  If you are going to be filthy, be the filthiest.

Will Compton spring for a banner commerating the last 3 days of ku basketball as being some of the dirtiest since UNLV?

don't even see what the big deal is.  a big booster is getting his kid a job/spot (which will probably be a glorified fluffer) with the basketball team.  meh.  maybe an easier way to funnel money to the current roster, i guess.

Back in the days when schools could have JV teams, ku picked the "rich" kids who couldn't play for a Div. II Juco team for their JV team . . . now they just bring in rich kid walk-ons.   Easiest way to funnel money into the scholarship guys . . . Literally thousands of built in "outs" of the NCAA ever sniffs at it.

Damn it Frank, no more walk-ons with real ability, money first, money first!!

I just remember doing a google search on one their previous walk-ons, and Dax told himself that dollars to donuts it's going to turn up that kid comes from a family with money.  Sure enough, he was from out in Western Kansas someplace, and there was a website solely dedicated to the kids dad and his penchant for very expensive, rare American Muscle cars . . . like original Plymouth Superbirds which have been auctioned off for up to $800K.

Can you name two or three of those "rich kid" JV players?

Based on those comments, you clearly don't have the first clue.

Typical UMKC based ku bandwagoner response.

All of which is kind of sad . . . really.

It's always rich when a guy who still doesn't know the difference between "to" and "too" is knocking on someone else's education.

To and Too is one of the most common grammatical errors made in the English Language.   You can find people who win Pulitzer prizes and/or actually getting paid to write making the exact same kinds of grammatical mistakes on a daily basis.

The inability to understand complex issues is what is almost entirely lost on the resident validators.

K-State could have easily said no that to that piece in Snyder's contract.

Also, please tell us where the clear conduit to impropriety lies in the Sean Snyder deal, as opposed to a major athletic boosters kid (who couldn't even start for his HS team) being given a walk-on position at ku??

Well at least this isn't as bad as when Cole Aldrich's dad lost his job. To keep him from going to the NBA, because of family financial issues, ol' Dougy Compton stepped in and gave his dad a figurehead job at his firm.  Thus ending the story of why the Aldrich family currently resides in Lew-rence.   :nono:
"When Beasley dunked in the second half to make it a 12-point game, that was the loudest moment I’ve ever experienced at a college hoops game - Allen Fieldhouse included.”

First off Stalksmith . . . I know in that dumbass little freakboy brain of yours, you didn't think I could name any JV guys from ku.   Plus, just where in the hell did you get the notion that Google doesn't "delete anything" . . . most websites aren't hosted by Google, Google just searches available websites that are making themselves available on the Internet (World Wide Web) to be searched as they reside on various web servers across the world . . . for as much time as you spend on the Interwebs, you're really kind of a dumbass.

This is one website that mentions Jueneman, but it's not nearly as comprehensive of the one that I saw . . . but hey, you know "Google doesn't delete those items" LOL . . . Google . . .the be all and end all of Web Hosting and Web Presence . . . LOL.   I mean they do have quite an operation, but they aren't a complete monopoly just yet Stalker Freak Boy.

You've probably heard how the winged cars were banned in DC and Maryland for not having front bumpers. At this time, Dr. Jackson had a specialty body shop fabricate up some front bumpers modified from a 1963 Corvette. In 1973, the car went to Nichels Engineering in Indiana for some mechanical work. The engine was blueprinted, reassembled and dynoed at 450 horsepower. In 1979, the car was sold to Jerry Jueneman in Hays, Kansas. It was cosmetically restored and showed up at the Wing Car National meet in Michigan that year. The car is still owned by Jueneman and is reported to be currently on the market.

http://www.superbird.com/70dcd.html

ThomasCo . . . please point out to me where I said the guy "contributed a dime" . . . thanks, and good luck with that search.  But don't tell me that if you're in Hays, KS you can't "contribute" anything to ku athletics . . . you're not saying that are you??
