Worst band ever.

We're all in agreement, right?

Generally, "worst band ever" means all other bands are better. Just needed clarification though.

I'm a big fan of "Renegade" though.

I guess some of us have different tastes in music.

I saw Styx along with Steve Miller Band and Peter Frampton at Arrowhead, sometime in the summer of 1977 (the year Elvis passed away).

First song up was Light Up:

Light up everybody
Join us in this celebration
Light up and be happy
Sweet, sweet sounds will fill the air

Every day's a holiday when your lips meet mine
The music's keepin' time with our love
You are here, and so am I
The weather's quite divine
So pass me round your wine, lovely one

All I need is just one hit to get me by
'Cause baby when your near I'm halfway high

Light up, everybody
Join us in this celebration
Light up and be happy
Sweet, sweet sounds will fill the air

I also like the song Lorelei:

When I think of Lorelei my head turns all around
As gentle as a butterfly she moves without a sound
I call her on the telephone, she says be there by eight
Tonight's the night she's moving in and I can hardly wait

The way she moves, ooh-ooh
I gotta say
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever

Her eyes become of Paradise, she softly speaks my name
She brightens every lonely night, no one's quite the same
She calls me on the telephone, she says be there by eight
Tonight's the night she's moving in, it's time to celebrate

The way she moves, ooh-ooh
I gotta say
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever
Lorelei let's live together
Brighter than the stars forever
I love the smell of peat in the evening.  That smell, you know that earthy smell...  Smells like...whisky !

All Rise... The Judge is in the house.
I think this thread needs to be retitled worst bands that were popular because If you are serious about worst bands ever I would have to strongly disagree with you... I have heard some pretty stupid bands before that I didn't even know why they formed...

Pretty sure Nickelback is even worse than Styx.

Start with the name.  For f*cks sake, Nickelback is named after the fact the lead singer used to work at Starbucks and ask people if they wanted their nickel back.  Styx is named after the boundary between Earth and Hell.  (I'll argue Nickelback's music is worse also.)

Pretty sure this is >>> than anything Styx ever did.  But since Nickelback didn't write it maybe it's an outlier.

This song is quite often referenced on The Bob and Tom show, to hoots of laughter, I might add.

Saw them in Henry Levitt summer of '74 w/ BTO as the mainliner and Bob Seger the first up.  Only song we knew was Lady, which by the way is great.  Equinox was my favorite album, then they started to slip into very pop'ish stuff.  Kind of like early Ted and ZZtop, good/great early then sold out to sales of poprock.

Pretty sure you're wrong and that they crapped all over the original version.
