ZOMG!  FAMILY PACK!  THANKS DAD!

i'd buy the one on the right. 50 bucks sound good? love the "emits showers of sparks" assortments.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Are you kidding me? With sparklers you can write things in the air and it will be there for almost 1 whole second!!!! :runaway:

    "Tacky" -Kietz
A neighbor of mine asked a bunch of us to help him with a church fundraiser last night.  Turned out to be working a fireworks shop in Haysville about 10 minutes south of downtown 'ta.  I cashiered.  This way trumped the white trash scene at the Wichita Wild games.  If I'd known what I was getting into, I definitely would've brought the camera and had some material ready to use on these people.  Multiple families paying with quarters and having to leave to get more money out of the car or come back after payday.

Pretty sure I could sign up again for register duty before the 4th if any elites want to come mix it up...

- 2-3 packs of sparklers (the wire ones, not the cheap wood ones)
- wrap tightly with lots of duck tape, leave one sparkler sticking out the top for the fuse (make sure you get it sealed up well everywhere or else it won't work, the more tape the better)
- jam wire-end into the ground and light

This.

Electrical tape works the best, imo.  Make sure to wrap them as close to airtight as you can get.

Might wanna take a few steps back after lighting... Just a suggestion.

The "firecrackers" I bought in Tijuana a number of years ago, I was actually able to use a couple of them to remove a stump from the yard.

Thanks for the tip.  I will try that on a ton of old wire sparklers I've had for 2 decades at least.  Sounds like a good way to get rid of them.

My favorite fireworks are the "Zingers", aka "Speed Balls", aka "Twister Stix", aka "Flying Ground Bloom Flowers".  They have different names because multiple firework companies produce the same thing but give it a different name.  Best quality brand of fireworks I would recommend is Brothers.  A little on the pricey side but well worth it in quality.  I ran a fireworks stand for five years when I was younger.  Absolutely loved it.  Should get back into the biz.

I know I'll get blasted for this, but is it possible for a firework to really be worth it?

In many cases, they are not worth it, especially the great big stuff with $50+ price tags.  I think you can have a great time with the smaller stuff if you know what to look for.  You can spend a lot more time shooting them and it won't cost very much.  I love price shopping and bargain-hunting at different fireworks stands too.  There is often a huge variance in prices between stands.  I've seen things at one stand sell for 20 cents that are priced at $2 at another stand for the exact same thing.  It's not uncommon to see things three or four times as high at certain stands.  Many times there will be one or two items priced very reasonably as a "come-on" in hopes you will buy more stuff while you are there.  I literally can't drive by a stand without stopping.  I've been known to visit about 20 different stands in a day driving from my parents house back to Manhattan.  I also love going to Missouri to get a bunch of the stick rockets and smuggle them into Kansas.   :D

How do these guys make money year 'round.  These frackers always have open signs and one car in the lot.

Not a bad choice, but I think the snake could beat that.

OMG, that was awesome.  Tried it last night with several packs of sparklers and electrical tape, only I forgot the part about putting it in the ground.  I gave it to my best buddy to hold.  (Thank God he didn't let is 5-year-old hold it.)  Burned him good, but he dropped it in time to not get 3rd degree burns.

not sure if this was discussed (did alot of skimming)  but I got told this weekend that snakes are outlawed in KS cause some little girl swallowed one a died. is this true? I have a tough time believing it but at the local works stand there were no snakes to be found. :dunno:

EDIT: not true, my dad bought some snakes for my niece and nephew
