Was the move to DT planned for Fitzgerald? If not, I hope he's not being moved because we have no one big enough or talented enough to plug the middle. Between Abana (if he's around), X, Calvin, and Guidry (for depth) I was hoping two of those would be adequate.

Fitzgerald was an end at Virginia in a 3-4 when they had Chris Long on the other side. I just hope that his success a) wasn't a result of that and b) it won't be stifled by his move to DT beyond the amount of time it is going to take getting used to the position and playing again.

Eric Childs hasn't impressed me in spite of how the guys at EA rate him.

K-State will have one of the better D-Line's in the league next year . . . but if somebody gets hurt, that's blown to hell, because there is no depth.

Brandon Harold was great for a true freshman, but other than that, K-State's d-line is below average, especially for the Big 12.  You want to talk about d-line depth, ku will have 4-5 d-tackles next year that can all play.  Darius Parish will probably be 2nd string, and he has a chance to be the best d-tackle ku's had since Dana Stubblefield.

Wasn't he like, rated lower than Logan Dold in the KS top 15 a couple years ago?

Won't "the better D-Lines" in the conference need depth?

Our d-line will be much better, but top 3 in the conference, I'll wait and see.

K-State's problems haven't been with the skill position players.  You just had a QB taken #17 overall in the NFL Draft and a WR selected early 2nd round in '08.  K-State's struggles have been on the offensive and defensive lines.  That's why I don't see K-State really improving that much until 2-3 years down the road, after some of those o-line/d-line recruits have had a couple years to develop under Snyder.

lol. freeman sucked, and our offense was pretty good in 2007.

LFBIQ...if you actually watched games and had any ability to evaluate Freeman, you would not come to the conclusion that he sucked. What is the fascination w/ claiming he sucked on this board? You could criticize him for other reasons, but not his ability...

Fitzgerald played nose tackle for Virginia against Texas Tech in their bowl game.  He did an outstanding job.  Click on the link for his stats in the game.

http://www.texastech.com/sports/m-footbl/stats/2007-2008/tt13.html

We're playing a 4-3 and Fitzgerald is a very active 6-4 285-290lb player.  My guess is he will essentially be like a 5 technique DT and there are a great deal of similarities to the 4-3 5 tech and the 3-4 End.

Disagree completely with BMW's assessment of our DL.  We will possess 2 of the better defensive lineman in the Big 12 at their respective positions in Harold and Fitzgerald.  Calvin was out of shape and a transfer last year.  The kid has size and is talented.  We know X Stewart is talented and we'll see if Snyder gets something out of him.  This should be a solid unit for KSU in '09 and I think it will definitely be in the upper half of the conference as a unit.  The back 7 is more of the question.

your statement is based on?  You seem definitive yet there is no way to prove it.  We don't know how Abana will perform backing up Harold.  He certainly has ability and great size.  We have 5 DT's who possess D1 experience.  Crews has played well at times but he was still young.  Stewart has been an disciplinary obstacle course but we know he has talent.  Childs is fine as a 4-3 end.  Stewart and Valentine should back him up.

Your statement is definitive yet could be proven inaccurate.

I know this...ku does not have one player along it's defensive line better than either Harold or Fitzgerald.

Those that think that KSU will have one of the top 3 or 4 DL in the Big 12 this year are looking at KSU only. You really need to look at what other teams have coming back.

Texas has Sergio Kindle, Oklahoma has McCoy & Beal, Nebraska has Suh. Before making a statement like that, you really need to look at the WHOLE Big 12, not just KSU and you also have to look objectivly and not thru purple glasses.

They don't have an ability to look at things objectively on this board, Seminole.  It's full blown EMAW tardfest, 24-7 on KSUFans.com.

we're on the worst slide we've had since the Snyder resurrection and we're pulling 45K a game to come watch a defense play 117th, no bowl for two years, and the Texas bowl was a dud.

ku is enjoying their best run OF ALL TIME!! and pulling in about 47K a game. lmao

ku pulled 51K last year

According to ku police reports, the fight involved as many as 100 people.
“We’re pretty sure an incident occurred,” said Capt. Schuyler Bailey, ku Public Safety Officer
“We will handle any discipline regarding this incident internally, and we will have no further comment about it.” Perkins

no substance to your statements...just comments like, "delusional".

Which KSU fan on this board thinks we will finish any higher than 4th in the North?  Is that "delusional"?  We think we will have a good DL but nobody on here thinks our LB or secondary will be worth a crap.  That is "delusional"?

I'm disappointed in you BMW.

Yep, we're delusional in thinking we will have a good DL with players like Harold and Fitzgerald.

Seriously, it's time for you guys to get past the denial stage.  There were seven home games at ku last year and every single one of them was packed to the brim at kickoff.  This was what the crowd looked like against Louisiana Tech and Sam Houston State:

poor bmw. we told you this back in feburary. there are no nfl players on that ku defense.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Did I say Top 3??

No, but I am just assuming that to be one of the better D-lines in the league, being in the top 3 (top 25%) would seem reasonable.

Darrell Stuckey is projected 2nd round in next year's NFL draft.  I thought you were better than that.

Did you not watch 52-21?  Your d-line got completely dominated by ku's o-line.  Your defense ranked 117th in the nation.  Harold's good, but the rest of your d-line is either unproven or flat-out terrible.  No depth at all.  Very little size at the d-tackle position.  I guess I should know what to expect from a guy who predicted Ron Prince would win a national title at K-State.

I hate to bring more facts and objectivity into the discussion since this thread's so full of EMAW retardation, but Jake Laptad had 7 sacks and 2 safeties in '08, compared to just 3 sacks and no safeties for Brandon Harold.

Last year has what to do w/ this year?  So you're comparing different DC's, 3-4 and 4-3, w/ Fitz and w/ out Fitz, young players with more experienced players.

I guess things stay completely the same, right?  Our young players don't get better.  Transfers or players who sit out couldn't be any good.  New coaches and new schemes.

very little size @ the DT position?  We have three 3 hundred pounders and Fitzgerald was worlds more effective vs. TTech's OL than any of the Jayhawk DT's.

relative to the rest of the Big 12, we'll have an above average DL, a well below average LB Corp and an average to slightly below average secondary. i'd guess ksu finishes around 8th/9th in total and scoring defense.

THANK YOU!!! You just proved my point in one response!!! If you kept up on other teams in the Big 12, you would know that Kindle was moved to D-End for this year.
Before posting, do your research!!!!
