So if I am reading this right . . . there's 2 settlements, the public settlement of $1.2 million, and Bobby K's little side deal of $3.2 million.  $4.4 million to effing Ron Prince.

LOL . . . amazing.

Maybe He Really Was Scary Smart?

Smart enough to trick us into hiring him and then paying him eleventy billion to leave once we found out he really had no clue how to coach after all.  Dude's some sort of crazy mastermind.

The slice of the pie chart for KSU's athletic department spending labeled "dumb decisions" is going to look like Pac Man before it is all said and done.

I'm picturing a scene that will play out over the next couple of years that reveals Krause & Prince secretly romantically involved and this entire scheme was to provide funding for their escape to their forbidden love on a yacht somewhere in international waters.  Just like in the movie "Wild Things"

Need some lawyery type people to explain the potential defense ksu has.

I would assume Krause would be considered an "agent" of the university, even without anyone else in the university knowing about it, making the contract enforceable.  I think KSU's only out would be something along the lines its against ksu policy to enter into contract negotiations without consent of legal counsel.

My guess...ksu will be on the hook for the full amount.

I would argue the opposite of that. Since he was using funds from a government agency (and not his own), there's no way he has the authority by himself to make such an investment.

If Currie wasn't told about this, I can tell you that one lawsuit that would be defensible is Currie breaking his contract to get the hell out of this sinking ship.  But, maybe he was informed of this...

Be prepared for your ass to do a lot of laughing.

After watching Wefald run this University like his own personal fiefdom for the better part of the last 10 years, I would be absolutely dumfounded if Wefald WASN'T complicitly involved in this dealing in some manner.  My guess is, not only was he involved, but he was ALOT involved.  Effin' A, the dude fired Timid Tim for the authority to appoint a puppet AD to control Prince's contract extention.  We're to believe now he was magically not involved in approving Prince's firing and buy-out?

my assumption/hope is that he was, in some manner, made aware of this prior to or after his acceptance.   KSU claims to have found out on May 11th.  I think this is why he (Currie) had such an emphasis on "transparency" and why he made a point to say that he couldn't speak for things that happened in the past.

There's a new sheriff in town.
More importantly is who gets the movie rights?
Who directs this epic cloak and dagger blockbuster?
Who plays Krause?  Weefer?   Prince?

It's going to be interesting to find out when this 'secret agreement' was put into place. If it was, for instance, in the middle of the season when it was becoming readily apparent that fan disapproval was going to drive Prince out that makes that much more suspicious on Krause's part.

Wefailed said that it happened sometime between Princes extension in August 2008 and this month. We fired Prince, in what, November? The thought that it could of been put into place between November and now - after his firing -  is retarded.

Me thinks it was lumped into negotiations right around the same time the extension was - August or September. If it was in October or anytime after that (when our decline on the field began again in earnest) then Krause's stank is all over it.

Sure Krause's head should roll but nobody should get escorted out quicker than Wefald.  You've got to know what's going on under your umbrella - - particularly the athletic department.  Seems to me that Wefald packed it in about 18 months ago.

On the bright side, your school recently had a solid hire (AD, not old ballz) and I'm sure that he is looking forward to starting with a new slate, and new President.  Wefald's a joke.

A 'secret agreement'?  Really?  Thats all the more creative our athletic department can be?  No attempt at laundering the money through boosters...or anything?  I mean, we really really suck at this.   :blank:
