    I'm with Coco.
So did you guys prefer plastic or metal slammers? I always used plastic, but kept my metal slammers for "when I meant business".

Were pogs another scheme by the Japanese to make billions off American children?

    The very best.
incredible thread. these were big time around 1994-1995 esque.

i liked the slammers w/the shredded edges. the metal slammers were unfair, really. all the rich kids had em.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Way back in the day, my family and I went to Oklahoma City. Some store had tons of pogs. I got a slammer set of like 6 brass ones. They all had holograms on them of planets and stuff. I felt like a king.

My metal slammer was so feared that it was banned from competitions, thing had to have weighed like 5 pounds it was amazing.

I have no idea what a pog is?  That makes me either really old or cool? :whistle1:
Here's hoping that Clams is chillin' with someone cool up in that big EMAW in the sky. RIP Clams, RIP.

I'd think a heavy plastic would bounce more, therefore being more effective in collapsing the stack and earning pogs.

...Yeah pogs are cool...

I still want my cooler, bitches!

I remember when my elementary school banned pogs.  Parents would pay $200 for the elite pogs, and then their kids would bring them to school and lose to the kids with the $5 pogs but who actually knew how to play.  Always played for keepsies.  The parents who bought the $200 pogs didn't like that too much.

Never really knew how to play pogs thought it was gay and usually beat up and stole the pogs from the nerds who would play it, and yell jthutch rules!.  Then I would go drink whiskey by the jungle gym

I had that pog maker, I think they called it a milkcap maker. . .but anyways, took baseball, basketball, and football cards and made pogs out of them.  I had this like 1/2 inch thick cast iron/gold plated slammer that was smelted from the fires of hell. It was basically a pog bully as it pretty much destroyed everything in it's path.

I collected them for a while but never knew how to play so I usually just pimped them out.  I had bigger things to worry about like slam ball on an 8ft goal or hotbox with the tenny ball and a couple of trees.

how about those peole that would simply intimidate you w/their collection? you'd show up ready to do battle with a handful of pogs in your palm, and the slammer in your pocket. they'd show up w/mulitple canisters filled with elite pogs, and slammers in their own gold cases. you were too intimated to concentrate on the actual matchup, and would get smoked. i lost many albertstons pogs this way.  :'(

But I didn't.  I was just that kid that showed up with multiple cannisters... and bluffed.
