"Huggins was first and foremost hired because he was the coach that would likely have the earliest and greatest impact on ku. . . that was reason #1.

Look, I know that 4 years later it's easy for you K-Staters to concoct some kind of kat'pak feel good story saying that Huggins was hired because of his long and extensive history at Cincinnati, and that he was brought in to make K-State a major player in the Big 12 blah, blah, blah.  When in reality he was pretty much brought in to . . . beat ku.

But you K-Staters like your story, and it makes you feel good.

So again, when does K-State thank ku for forcing K-State to care about basketball??  Because the other part of your kat'pak feel good story tells you that K-State officials finally came to their senses and looked at all the money they were losing out on . . . but that's just the background story.  The main story was that certain kat'pak power brokers were tired of K-State getting its ass beat by ku all the time."

Do you think Huggins was hired simply to beat ku?

mmmkay.  Dax did thank you.  Haven't seen any of you ku fans thank KSU yet for football.  Did I miss that ?

I understand you were turning the tables.  That is why I quoted SD and Dax and added my thanks to ku.

Anyways, carry on !

I'm surprised that even after their Orange Bowl appearance, ku fans haven't figured out how much more dominant football is in the realm of college athletics.
Is your life so sad that KSU football isn't enough?

Ben . . . I think one of the reasons Huggins was hired was to beat ku, but college hoops is a bigger pool, 64 teams make the post season and a shot at the National Title, every conference team gets two shots to claim league "titles" every year (regular season and post season tourney) . . . I think it was 1.  Compete at a much higher level in the league and get to the NCAA tourney.  2.  Beat ku.

Really . . . Texas is in the SAME CST as Kansas??

Yeah, we're all in Central Standard Time

I'm a geography major, I know these things  :scared:

And it's not past lunchtime. Past lunchtime = like 2 pm man.

You seem like a cool dude, 42.  My aunt and uncle live in Dripping Springs, TX (just outside of Austin).  Are you still in San Marcos?  I've heard great things about that place.

Its a dump college town dude. Trust me they do however have a nice outlet mall.

That's the same thing I'm saying regarding ku's football program.  Can't you see the hypocrisy?

Yes.... your opinion that K-State basketball hired Huggins to better the overall program, while ku hired Mangino solely to beat K-State is completely hypocritical.  Logic escapes you.

Not quite the same IMO.  The same would be if K-State would have hired one of uk's assistant basketball coaches.  Huggins was an established head coach with a proven track record.
