Kansas State transfer Anderson to visit USF
USF coach Stan Heath continues to try to find the best fit for his final scholarship this spring, and there's a new recruit who could potentially join the Bulls this fall. Ron Anderson Jr., a 6-foot-8, 250-pound power forward who is transferring from Kansas State, will make a campus visit to USF on Tuesday.

Anderson, who averaged 5.2 points and 5.3 rebounds in 18 minutes per game off the bench for the Wildcats as a sophomore, has already visited Temple and Pepperdine, and is still wide-open in choosing his next school, according to his cousin, Troy Kemp, who is dean of admissions at The McCallie School, the private school in Chattanooga, Tenn., where Anderson attended.

"He's only visiting schools he's seriously considering," Kemp said. "He doesn't have a front-runner right now, so he's probably going to take all five of his visits."

Anderson's father, Ron Anderson, played 10 years in the NBA from 1984-94 with five teams, and even at age 50, he continues to play professionally in France. (Check out this picture -- he's the one wearing No. 15, in the middle under the windmill.)

Anderson would have to sit out the 2009-10 season by NCAA transfer rules, but would have two years of eligibility remaining after that. He's from from Upper Marlboro, Md., and played on the D.C. Assault as an AAU teammate of Michael Beasley, who he also played with as a freshman at Kansas State. Anderson averaged 3.3 points and 3.6 rebounds as a freshman, leading the team in shooting percentage by hitting 54.8 percent of his shots from the field.

religious school.  not super freaky.  i'm just always curious about non-religious freaks that go to religious schools.

expensive, weird vibe.

Miss you Ron PRINCE. :-[

As far as Ron Anderson... Meh. My only fear is that exposure from being down in Florida or somewhere would be enough (along with getting more minutes on a crappy team) to get him in the NBA or something. As a result of which this would come back to haunt us. Can you imagine if he got 30 minutes and turned into a 15/10 player on a crappy team, that he would get drafted? I would say yes. The only way this turns out good for us is if he either fades into total obscurity or Drew snags him.

I will miss Ron for his personality rather than his play.  At tanks they keep all of the fake id's they get and tack them up on the support posts for the bar.  Ron's is up there under the name Jamal Henry on the middle post.  Makes me smile every time I see it.

Always wonder why bars do that.  Pretty sure IDs are property of the state and confiscating them was illegal.  I know it's illegal to possess a suspended DL/ID, guess you're actually supposed to destroy them or mail them back or something?

I think this is one thing you don't have to worry about.  I like Ron and all but he's about 6'6" and not athletic.   The NBA is not in his future.
