    Gettin' angried up!!!
The sad thing is that kind of thing happens more than you think.  If we had to come out and pay the families of every soldier killed by friendly fire this nation would be in even worse financial shape than it already is.  War is a nasty thing and people get caught in the cross fire.  They should ask them selves what would Pat want, I think he would understand what happened was not intentional.

I don't agree with the cover up but don't think it is as bad as other things that happen during the course of a war.

That is a horrible reason to excuse these people or any people who would cover something like this up.  If I were Pat, a man who gave up his career to serve his country, I would want the people who stopped me from doing that held accountable.

Dudes die of friendly fire ALL THE TIME.  It's called war.  STFU Tillman family and accept the consequence of your son's decision.

As for the rest of you, ya, we should have a fracking draft, and there should be NO exceptions for college students, income levels, or any other non-medical excuse.  Let's see how we all like the idea of war then.

is this a joke?

Nope.  I think we should draft the people who fight in wars.  It would take an act of god to get us into them then.  No one would want to risk it for stupid reasons...which I think would be a pleasant change.

Since you seem to be so pro-military, which branch did you serve in?

you're kidding yourself if you think a draft would change who serves in the military, or for that matter, who serves in the worst areas during wartime.  the haves would either a) not get drafted or b) serve their time in a non-combat role/theater

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

That is a fastball of knowledge exploding into the glove.  A draft, even one with no exemptions, wouldn't effect running into a war.  "Oh, the President of GlobalCorp's son got drafted?  Ooops, I lost that number, guess he didn't" OR "Hey son of President of Global Corp, enjoy your tour of duty at Hanscom"

every comment that is ingnoring the fact that the military lied about his death is totally missing the point...

and its teh point to why the Tillman's are pretty pissed about it. I would be too.

I think they've accepted that their son is gone...but the blatant disregard for accountability, truth, and loyalty in our military is unacceptable.

That's why it has to be federalized.  No state/local jerkoffs.  Have auditors oversee the whole thing, ensure randomness of selection.  It's quite possible...but that doesn't mean the big kids would ever allow it to be achievable.

Boy, those are 2 entirely different things.  I both played a sport at KSU and served my country.  What was your point?

I only played one season and I wasn't very good.  Not anything to be all that proud of.

Did you suck as a soldier, too? Or were you in the coast guard?

Airman.  I built munitions and they seemed to work pretty well.   And I didn't suck at sports, just wasn't good enough to play D1 as a freshman.  Knew I was never going to play professionally so I chose to concentrate on books, boobs, and booze instead.  Though it was probably not in that order.

*edit-  I probably wasn't good enough to play D1 at all, but they didn't really lose anything by giving me a spot on the roster.  Didn't cost them a dime and I helped with the team's academic numbers.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

There's a reason they consider it a lifetime sport.  You can be 80 damn years old and still be able to enjoy playing tennis.  It probably won't be much fun for someone to watch you play, but you'll be having a good time.

That's what the guy gets for being a chode and joining the military, imo.

You very bad man. Why don't you join the military? Oh, wait. They don't have much of a need for wedding photographers, do they?

Sorry for the delay, I've been shooting "weddings" for ESPN for the past week.

I wouldn't join the military for reasons that I've defined in the Rep. Meltdown area of ksufans.com.

Those who can, do.  Those who can't join the military.

Yeah, but when what you can do is shoot weddings, it's not exactly something to brag about.  Isn't photography a predominantly homosexual profession?  Kinda like hairdressers?
