Lou!  So glad your back on the KSU boards!
Are you going to deliver a pre-season inspirational talk to Coach Snyder, from one OB to another? :kstatriot:

True, he went from a low level coach to a very successful BCS coach and did it immediately.  BUT, he had been a head coach for 15 years before taking over at Cincinnati.

I'm not catching your point.  Is it a bad thing to have prior head coaching experience?

Kelly would have been a fantastic hire, imo, but it would have taken a genious far greater than KSU has ever had in its athletic department to know at the time Prince was hired that a guy that just went 4-7 and 6-5 at Central Michigan had the potential to win a BCS conference in his second year.  At the time, Kelly was just as big a reach as Prince was, but at least it would have been the right one.

A little miscommunication here.  My post directly above yours referenced Turner Gills experience at a low level D1 program.  I was saying that while Kelly made the jump to D1 look easy, he had 15 years of head coaching experience while Gill only has (now) 3 years.

What about Skip Holtz from ECU?  Had a good run last year and has a good coaching blood line.  Don't know what he was doing 3 years ago.

I hope Koenning learned from his previous HC experience so he can be successful when he takes over.

I wanted Butch Davis.

Don't think he would have come here in retrospect, but it would have been nice to find out for sure.

MCMW!
