Joe's taproom, the place across the street from Fats, Porters and Aggie station all had a 10 c wings day Monday-Thursday.  Joe's were by far the best.

They had 10 cent wings at Joe's (same place Tubby's is now) but they would limit you to 30. 50 cent tacos at porters is pretty good on thursdays. I just had a $1.75 cheesburger at purple pig last night which was muh, but for $1.75 you can't complain (also saw fitz there, he was eating with the gopowertard softball team, he even talked like he actually played which must be a lie because I'm pretty sure there's a weight limit).

The best coupon I ever got was for an absolutely free chinese meal from dillons that included two entrees and an egg roll or crab rangoon plus drink, all free, you can bet I made a zillion copies of that and went about every week the whole semester  :lick:

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Tuesdays @ Bobby Ts.  $.50 tacos and dollar draws while they replayed the football game from the previous weekend.  Really sweet if it was an non-televised road game, because they used some sort of SID tape and played the radio broadcast over it.

50 cent 'cos at Porter's on Thursdays. I think they had $1.50 beers, too.

They still do that?

There were some excellent Q-Card Deals. $4 large 2 topping pizza at Gumby's (when they were good). The Taco Bell deal.

The back of the football tickets was always nice -- buy one get one free burrito supreme at the Bell (I think that's what it was anyway).  Late night Bell runs (following basketball at the rec) were a common occurrence for me as a student.

Good cheap options: Kreem kup, Q card thingie, BK for a buck, weekly special at Subway, the dozens of 10cent wing places, and best of all, free Sonic Burgers because some guy I knew had a stack of free Sonic Burger coupons taller than me (I think this guy is now in prison).

Bad cheap options: Anything at Rusty's.

SD, what was your favorite iteration where you bartended?  I once had a buffalo burger there, but I can't remember what the place was called then.

Aggie Station

I think that one was good.  :dunno:

I forgot to mention Aggieville Pizza and whatever that place was called before it became O'Malley's.  The pizza at both establishments was putrid.  I think AP had to be a front -- there were always shady types hanging around back, and no one but me and my bud would go in there to eat.  (We weren't all that bright.)  :beerchug:

Carryout Shuttle was the best.  :lick:

My favorite "munchie" spot was the BK on Poyntz. In a related turn, does any of the  :cyclist:  folks here remember the name of the surplus store, downtown on Poyntz, that burnt down? Had to be 83-84. Also, the name of the pool hall, on Poyntz, just down the street from the BK? tia

They may have been $.25 when I was there, I just remember them being crazy cheap and pretty damn tasty to boot.  Nothing like being able to get drunk and eat way too much for like 20 bucks.

<--- used to work at joe's when I was in school. I don't recall ever limiting people to 30 wings. Didn't matter anyway.. most of the time we didn't even count them. Also $1 burgers on tuesdays was a sweet deal.

    Skate on Sister School
Also 2.99 Tuesdays at subway.
yes, the line at the union would be very long on tuesdays but it was like a day's worth of food.  but at $2.99 wasn't really cheap either.

the best deal ever was the taco bell two buck lunch. when i was in highschool (mhs), there would be a small tbell coupon in the paper almost every week. it was called the two buck lunch and you got four tacos (crunchy or soft) and a medium drink (free refills) for $2.
damn i forgot about that.  very difficult meal if you didn't have a car (mine died and never got fixed) but incredible value.

also forgot about the ville pizza hut's lunch deal on wednesdays- $2.99 for a personal pan pizza (1 topping) and $1 large sodas?  something like that.

The Ville hutt deal was $2.99 and was on wednesdays.  If you knew a certain elite group of 'Dians, you got soda but paid water prices.  They were known as "Mountain Waters" if you wanted Mtn Dew and "Pepsi Water" if....well, you get the deal.
