Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Manning is just a misunderstood coaching savant.

Love the guy theorizing that Self may "hand pick" Manning for the head job at OSU.  That's so &@#%ing stupid on so many levels my head has a hard time even comprehending it.

Just curious - do any of you really have any fracking clue what Danny Manny does or does teach others about the game of basketball during practices?  I don't, but I know that a couple of worthless big guys (Darnell Jackson and Shaka Kaun) turned into somewhat scary forces of evil by the time they departed.  Maybe DannMann had something to do with that?  I mean...I don't like the guy, but maybe he doesn't suck at coaching.

Drunk, actually.  But the judges will accept dense.  Please feel free to explain why I'm dense, though.  Help a brother out.

Don't worry about Sys.  He's a little surly lately, possibly due to a bad case of the swine flu that's going around down in his neck of the woods.

Thanks, bro.  I've been pretending to be horribly ill lately to scare swine flu-fearing ninnies around me.  Maybe this is my bad karma.

a.  no one is suggesting that he's a poorer than average big man whisperer.
b.  the 2 guys you mentioned weren't worthless.  they were both top 100 recruits.  if guys like that aren't very good players by the time they're seniors, something went wrong.
c.  why did self allow manning to turn griffin into the best player in the country, brackins into a lottery pick, lyons and elonu into fringe nba talents, pittman into a &@#%ing monster, moses into a solid big 12 pf, and even kent into a half decent big 12 big?  you'd think he'd try to reserve manning's unique ability to help freshmen bigs improve over the course of their college career for the 'hawks.

I think the whole point is none of actually knows what he does.  And by that, I mean:  So far he has "coached" a handful of already talented ball players and the have been pretty good under his tutelage.  Nothing that he has done leads me to think he will be getting a head coaching job any time soon, or even ever.  Self is roughly the same age as Danny and think about how many games he has coached up to this point.  And that was after spending time as an assistant.  For Danny to just now be a first year assistant is putting him pretty far behind in the game.

he just finished his second year as a coach.  several additional years on staff.

and i disagree with your central premise, i think it is fairly clear what manning's chief responsibilities are.

Yeah, kinda forgot to include this previous season.  And I was being factitious with the comment about not knowing what he does.  I guess, to be more accurate, I should have said none of us (at least I sure as hell don't) know what he has done thus far to have the squawks touting him as a such a wonderful coach and an irreplaceable part of their championship coaching staff.
