So I'm watching my son play. And their is this dad who sits next to me who is a pretty nice guy. But when his son has an error or strikes out he always gets angry. I mean angry he stands up and curses underneath his breath and kind of heckles his son. I try to stay out of it but I'm not really sure what to do. Any suggestions?
He's not the fastest guy in the BIG XII he's the fastest guy in the country.

Accuse his son of being gay.  He will either agree or start secretly questioning.

They are like that everywhere and age group. I coach a 9-10 year old competive team and got yelled at by a dad the Saturday. Here is the situation.

we are batting runners at first and second 2-2 count 2 outs kid has thrown 2 straight balls and is getting frustrated. The dad is yelling from the crowd put on the steal sign we could have runners and 2nd and 3rd. Im of the believe you dont make the 3rd out at 3rd base. Plus the catcher already threw out 2 kids that day so I know he has a cannon. Anyways count goes full so I oblige and put on the steal sign() Foul ball  the catcher goes and gets the ball and proceeds to  throw the ball into center field because the pitcher wasnt paying attention. The dad starts yelling GO GO GO GO  so to make him look like a idiot I make his kid run home before telling him to run back because it was a foul ball.

Stay out of it.

And (speaking from experience) you can't "make" your kid be competitive.  So let the kids have some fun and learn the game, when they want to compete they'll figure it out, otherwise they'll pick something else to do.

Coached a 13-14-15 year old team for 3 years.  Didn't have anybody I was related to on the team, I just like teaching kids how to play the game and was trying to help a friend who had a younger brother on the team.  None of the dads seemed to have time to coach their own kids.  Anytime one of them got stupid and tried to tell me what I was doing wrong, I would just remind him that I was not getting paid to coach his kid and would invite him to take the time and come help coach hiskid anytime he pleased.  That usually shut them up.

Yell at his son too

This.

Just start yelling at him, "Yeah, you &@#%up, you know nothing about baseball.  You are supposed to hit the ball retard!  Maybe you should quit baseball and join the ballet you &@#%ing fairy."

Then if his dad gets mad, just point out to him that you were following his lead, he'll get the point.  If he doesn't get mad. . .I mean, it seems like it would be a fun thing to do and a good way to make high school baseball more interesting.

Park next to him.  After game remove tire iron from trunk of car.  Walk up behind him.  Hit him, in this order: lower back, stomach, front of left knee, side of right knee.  To finish, flip him on his back, remove 9mm with duct taped handle (granted it shouldn't really matter who sees you doing this 'cause the guy kinda sounds like a douche), turn him onto his stomach.  One shot in the spine and one to the back of the head.  You're welcome.

Yeah the old, "Hey feel free to take over and knock yourself out chief" always works on the loud mouth none coaching dad.

But there's nothing wrong with a Dad getting on his kid a little, particularly at the high school age . . . gawd, what a bunch a pussies.

One of my best friends in high school practically got disowned and forced to move to another home after he missed the game tying free throw in the final .02.   Guy is a lawyer who graduated from Vandy Law School now.

I know a kid who was raped by his mom's boyfriend when he was in early grade school.  He's very successful now.

Maybe we should start raping more kid's at an earlier age?  :dunno:
