Hey ESPN, way to hire Herm E. for draft coverage.

That's like hiring Huskerpride to write anything or find a pretty girl.
Especially in Mancrappin. But I did find JTKSU's girl friend in Aggieville

So it really is 1989 all over again.   :runaway:

9/9/1989*  at Arizona State  Sun Devil Stadium • Tempe, AZ
9/16/1989*  Northern Iowa  KSU Stadium • Manhattan, KS
9/23/1989*  Northern Illinois  KSU Stadium • Manhattan, KS
9/30/1989* 1:10 p.m. North Texas State  KSU Stadium • Manhattan, KS

Could you live with that non-con schedule now?

Saul . . . nobody said I have to agree with the Mangina/Snyder formula of trying to backdoor into a BCS bowl.   In the era of 4 OOC games, an early season loss isn't going to keep you out of a BCS bowl, and obviously not out of the CCG . . . so it's absurd to not play at least one quality OOC game every year to get an early gauge on where you stand.

Plus creampuffs aren't dumb . . .  they expect bigger and bigger paydays to be the sacraficial lamb, so Snyder is going to have to go farther and farther down the food chain to try and find games, because the Michigan's of world also have no intention of going on the road in the OOC either and they can outpay K-State early and often.

Completely disagree.  When you're rebuilding a football program, you schedule creampuffs galore.  Win 6-7 games and get to a bowl game.  That's an extra month of practice, which can really benefit the younger guys in the program.  Plus, by playing four creampuff non-con home games, you maximize your total revenue.  Once the program is at a level where it's winning 10 games a year, then you put teams like USC and Auburn on the schedule.

Also, if you've looked at ku's non-con this year, it's got Duke, UTEP, and Southern Miss.  Three programs with pretty decent talent that may provide enough of a challenge to substantially prepare for the Big 12.  That's what you like to see once the program starts developing a little more depth and increasing the talent level.

Is saying that those programs have "decent" talent really a stretch?  Southern Miss has some studs out of SEC country that can flat-out play.  Duke and UTEP are lower tier schools, but they get their fair share of players out of North Carolina and Texas.  I'm just saying they're a step up from a total creampuff like Eastern Michigan or Temple.

C'mon man- you're reaching.  I would agree with southern miss maybe 7 or 8 years ago but everyone knows duke sucks terribly and utep is not quite a national powerhouse.

So it's safe to say they have decent talent :dunno: http://southernmiss.rivals.com/commitlist.asp recruiting classes from '06 up are pretty salty + they went to a bowl last year. Gotta agree with BMW but it also does you no real good to play a team like that it's kinda like playing a bowl game against some sh1t team like minnesota. If you beat them who gives a sh1t if you lose lol.

Of course Captain Meltdown would disagree with me . . .  the problem is young Captain Meltdown is that Snyder won't even have a Southern Miss or Duke type team on their schedule.   This isn't the era of just 3 non-conference games anymore, there's really no excuse for any BCS school, in the era of FOUR regular season non conference games to not play at least one game every year against another BCS school in the non conference.   Oh, and since it was always a favorite thing to say when K-State scheduled USC when USC was mediocre (well as "mediocre" as USC was ever going to get). . . ku scheduled Duke when they were absolutely HORRIBLE.

Plus, it is absolutely a factual reality that since other much bigger schools are starting to take a "no road non conference games" stand that it will cost more and more money to bring any non conference opponent that resembles a legit test.   So the Nevada's, and Wyoming's, and New Mexico schools, and UTEP, and a bunch of the MAC schools will likely fetch 6-700,000K for going to places like Michigan.   Thus that leaves Bill all happy to go scrounge up Tennessee Tech's.
