Instead of hijacking the scooter girl thread....

Ok. What an awesome game. The only people that don't want to play disc golf are those that have never played

Best Courses (Not Centennial Park lol):

Prairie Center in Olathe
Swope park in the ghetto is pretty good
Water Works in KCMO is pretty much the Augusta of disc golf  (great view of Kansas City and beautiful park)
Rosedale in Kansas City, KS - 36 holes of dg awesomeness. The "down under" course is ridiculous

Funny Lawrence story why I'm at it:

Spring break '08 my friend and I were playing dg at Shawnee Mission Park (new course...it's dece) and we met these two grad students from ku. They were really cool, but when we asked them about a certain course in Lawrence the said "Yeah don't go there, I threw my disc into the tall grass and two naked guys stood up"

So yeah, avoid disc golf in lawrence if you can.

pssshhhhhhh

It's a great thread thank you. Swope is an ok course, even though you should carry a hand gun and have the police on speed dial.

it's not okay. it's horrible. and if it's only okay, then why did you list it directly under Best Courses? did you mean best courses that aren't very good? this thread is very confusing.

I've played a handful of games, this is a surprisingly fun "sport".

I've always wondered though, do I have to call it Disc Golf or can I refer to it as Frolf?  Will disc golf enthusiasts beat me up for using the term Frolf??  TIA

calling disc golf frolf when you know better is the humor equivalent to asking someone from kansas how dorothy is.

Prarie Center in Olathe is the one I most frequent when I'm at home, its really well kept.

Centennial is pretty nice for a different course, and Water Works is just ridiculous. Still lots of fun though, lol.

Playing disc golf at Centennial Park in Lawrence is the equivalent of playing catch with yourself. Reasonably shady though, so that's good. Never say teh gayz btw.

Always looked like fun, but really haven't played it since crappy elementary school PE where you try to hit the tree over yonder.

McClellan Park in Joplin, MO

Is it nice? Was it there 10 years ago? I lived in Joplin for 4 years. I'd be pissed if I overlooked anything decent/good there (especially since I heard Pizza by Stout shut down).

Hutchinson has a pretty crapty disc golf right now but I'm in the process of making it a little better/challenging.  Any suggestions as to what you would look for in a disc golf course?  I haven't played myself.  Right now it is all low grass/no rough and a few sand bunkers a couple of "bogs" and a forested area.  I'm going to plant tall prairie grass in the rough and just mow the fairways, making a definded "course" rather than just a crapty pasture with metal baskets and concrete slabs placed randomly.

Can't play before 6 p.m. anymore, she actually asked the couple people standing around if it was theirs, lastly, there was no name or number on it.

Wow, I can't believe I just justified myself to you bunch of losers.

Had to go play a round yesterday after this discussion came up.  I don't really get the people that need more than 2 discs to play a round though.  I guess I'm never going to be good enough to need more than that.

What kind of driver do you use?  I use an aerobe (sp?)  most of the time I get hole in 1's.

yeah, good call. i use an aerobie too, as do most disc golfers. here's a pic of me playing some DG just last summer at some course outside of tulsa.

Pizza by Stout shut down  :-[ Since when?

I'm not sure if the course was there 10 years ago, but the park was. It's over by the hospitals.

Never played, though I was on an Ultimate Frisbee team back in the day, I don't know, kind of a weird concept.  I play white ball golf though.  Heard the course here in Hays is pretty nice and I drive by it every day, maybe I should give it a chance.  But damn dudes, the course has little for windbreak it appears, so how in the heck do you throw in gale winds?
