They have already stolen some recruits for us. I think now, we need to pump some into OCU.

Does Oral Roberts have a football team? :dunno:

Tim McCarty could use some at whatever school he went back to.

Not high school. But some out of JUCO. Daniel Davis & Peni Holakeituai.

That was in the 2002 class though when they used to give out five stars a lot easier...

How many stars was the tx lineman who stole Snyder's baseballs?
Also, wasn't Marvin Simmons ranked high?
Gary Chandler when he came out of JUCO was a 5 star, I think.

I don't know what Chris Boggas was ranked.
Marvin Simmons and Gary Chandler are now 4 :star:'s in the Rivals database...Matt Boss is too.

looking back, you're right about Simmons and Chandler. I can't find 2000 class ratings to get Boggas' info. I did see that Randy Jordan was a 5* on the scout ratings when he came to us.

What was Ben Leber ranked.  I want to say he was a Parade All-American, but my mind isn't what it used to be.

I guess the moral of the story is, in the decade of dominance we beat OU, Nebraska Texas etc. with 90% 2 and 3 star athletes with an occasional 4 to their 90% 3,4 and 5 star athletes.  We can do it again!!!!

Wait a minute, are you suggesting that all of the 4 & 5 star kids we offer Snyder doesn't actually want and he just offers them, recruits them, and subsequently doesn't land them on purpose in order to trick other programs into taking them so we can get a bunch of white kids from KS and grade casualties to fill out the roster and coach-em up?

Well...when you say like that...

I don't think it would be as funny as actually typing it out.  JIMO.

Yeah, that's why I specifically wished it was "hilarious". Really can't even picture it. Just a vague image a gray-haired bespectacled smilie (maybe with a headset) furtively polishing a diamond in a precious-gollum fashion.

btw (to any would-be emoticoners): MUST be "furtive." Thaaaaat's a deal-breaker, ladies.

Steve,
I don't know how you infered that from what I wrote.  I was only giving out hope as I see it.  We will never get 4 and 5's to consistently come to KSU....  So, should we all throw our hands up and call it a day?  No, we should have hope that Bill can extract the same results from similar talent, competing against similar talent, as he has in the past.  At least that is my story and I am sticking to it.

Why can't we?  You, friend, have been EMAWsculated by your willingness to accept medEMAWcrity.  If we stop sucking at recruiting, we can get commitments from 4 and 5 star talent tomorrow.  It's not like Norman, Gainesville, and State College are vacation destinations, but they all have absolutely ridiculous recruiting classes.  JoePa probably wears diapers, but he has more 4-star commits than you can shake a stick at.

Leyton,
I don't know why we can't recruit 4 and 5 star guys.  I can tell you I sure enjoyed my time in Manhattan if that makes a difference.  I have been to Norman many times and can't see the attraction.  Maybe it is tradition, I don't know.  I just want to believe we can rise again someday, and I don't want to wait until we start recruiting 5* athletes to hope.  So, until it does happen that the 5*'s flock to the Little Apple, I will remain one with hope in the ability of Bill.

Tradition is a big one. Location is another, but not for what people think. I like OSU, and stillwater is ok, but it's not as nice as Manhattan. From everything I've heard, Lubbock blows in every sense of the word. But, Lubbock is in Texas and OSU is closer to Texas plus apparently half the blue chip talent in KS dream about playing in Oklahoma somewhere. OSU also has the new facilities.

Mostly though, it's tradition that get them. Look around the nation. Most 5* guys end up at long time "football schools". crap, look at ND. They blow and still recruit well.

It would be interesting to see how many 3 and 4* move up to 4 and 5* players get elevated merely because of the schools that are interested in them.  I don't know that there would ever be any way to actually track this, but I would expect that a 3* player attracting interest from ND, Tejas, USC, and other perennials mysteriously find themselves with 4 or 5* rankings.  A kids talent level hasn't changed, yet attention breeds star inflation.

Conversely, how may 5* kids get downgraded?  It's clear that many 5* players don't make the impact that is expected of them, but I don't recall seeing someone getting star demotions -- or at least not very often.

Ameroogie,
Good post.  Terence Newman sure didn't start out as a 5* but certainly ended up one.  I do agree that it is not an exact science.  Kids from states that don't allow football year round are probably not getting as high rated as states that do.

sd, that's because they knew he was going to commit to KSU.  only reason.  the entire world hates ksu.
