The Huskers are 5-1 but really didn't play anyone in the non conference, except USC and they lost, and ku forced them to OT.....AT HOME!!!!!
QB Zac Taylor is completing 66% of his passes (14.7 yards/completion) and has thrown 13 TD passes. However, 8 of his TD passes have come vs. such powerhouses as Louisiana Tech, Nicholls State (no truth to the rumor that they're trying to schedule Dime State next season only because such a university doesn't exist) and Troy.
Taylor has been sacked 6 times and has accumulated a grand total of -17 yards rushing. You can imagine what's going to happen to him when Ian Campbell gets his hands on him.
RB's Marlon Lucky and Cody Glenn have combined to average 6.3 yards/carry. Don't get too excited though, Lucky has a whopping 67 yards vs. teams with a pulse and Glenn had 148 of his yards vs. Iowa State who gave up 176 yards rushing to Northern Iowa.
WR's Terrence Nunn and Maurice Purify average 20 yards/catch and the Cats have had some trouble against receivers this season. With Taylor running for his life because of the pressure the Cats will bring they may get their numbers that will be all pretty in the box score but it's not how many yards you get.....It's when you get them.
Defensively, the Huskers have playmakers in DE Adam Carriker and MLB Corey McKeon but the safeties, Tierre Green and Andrew Shanle, are unproven. I expect Josh Freeman, with his 11.8 yards/completion, to pick on them all day long. Free, as I am affectionately calling him now, had 128 of his 177 yards on those last two drives when it mattered most and you know he's going to be fired up to face the Big Red this week.
