Freshman quarterback Joseph Kassanavoid, a redshirt in 2008, estimated the workouts the Wildcats just completed were 80 percent more difficult than last season.

Not quite twice as hard but pretty close...about 20% less than twice as hard

That means the actual workouts are exactly twice as hard, but they also get 2 more water breaks than they used to.

Duh.

Was there a certain faction of the offense that felt betrayed (after Ludwig left)?
All of us have been through this. We'll get a guy in for a couple of months, and he'll leave. For me it was just a regular thing. It's been happening since I've been here. I was just like, "whatever." Maybe we'll bump into him later.

Are you on your way to setting a record for most assistant coaches played for?
Maybe. I just come in and play. When they say we have a new coach, I've just learned to go with it and find out where it goes. It happens every year. Right now, I'm just sitting back and accepting whomever the new guy is that comes in.

I overheard Attrail Snipes in class the other day say that the practices are only 72% harder than last year.  Something doesn't add up.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

Remember the Wildcats?

Consider that after each offseason workout thus far — the first official practice is Sunday — each Wildcat speaks to a teammate with whom he’s never held a deep, personal conversation.

Myths are dispelled, a bond is formed, and maybe, just maybe, trust is built — and then it’s easier to believe a teammate will be in the right place when the fourth quarter rolls around.

Quote
“It felt like we ran into a wall,” Banks recalled. “The first couple of workouts, we were throwing up and passing out.”

When one was hurting, the rest clapped in unison to inspire their struggling teammate.

I know.  I'm waiting for the announcement that the names won't be on the back of the jerseys.

The feel goody stuff only goes so far.  We'll see what we can do next fall.  Anxious to see what this staff can do with what they have.

But instead of adopting a slogan (In 2007, the motto plastered across the cover of the media guide was “The Power of One” which may or may not have been a reference to departed quarterback Josh Freeman, a likely first-round draft pick, who wore No. 1), the Wildcats are actually implementing the concept.

Going to miss the J-Mart to Prince jabs.

Stoops did the "take the names off the jerseys" thing after '05 when they had a terrible 8-4 (6-2) season and they turned the ship around in '06 and went 11-3 (7-1) and won the conference.  Our only saving grace is that Bill didn't do that after the '01 season because that would only fuel the tard-fire that those things actually work and it's not the fact that OU has incredible athletes at every position (and KSU doesn't).

What else am I supposed to do?

I don't anticipate a new staff or new players coming in this summer.  I don't know how good it will be, but I do want to see what they do with this group.

I just can't go the complete cynical route.

we're going to be laughably bad this year.  on top of it, OB will play guys that "have intrinsic values" but suck at football.

why wouldn't he get a shot?  we are brining in juco RBs for a shot at the starting QB position.
When I was a kid growing up in the projects, I used to dream of going into space, of escaping the slums, of killing an Ewok!

Yeah, no idea where this comes from.  It looked like that maybe the last couple years, but that's b/c we didn't have better options.

What would be "pulling it off" IYHO?  I think 5 or 6 wins in 2009 is an achievement given the hole we are in.  I'm grading on a major curve for this "new" staff until recruiting season next year, when we absolutely can't fall below the top 35-40.

Pulling it off is taking KSU's football program a clear notch above

A  Where it was when He retired the first time
B  The level we deemed "fireably bad" under Ron Prince

before he retires again.

Which entails IHMO:

1. being ranked in the top 25 for more than half a season
2. consistently bowling
3. being in contention for the north every year in November

If he can do that, he has performed a greater miracle than his first run

QFT.   I really don't think we'll be any good, but I'm still excited for the season to start.  Nothing better than college football, IMHO.
