Seriously.

I'm so glad they kept that guy.  He may get a Wooldridge-esque win against the Cats this year, but boy, does he remind me of ol' Jimmy...and that's good news for anybody who's not Kansas.

    The very best.
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

I agree with '99. Why is everyone pointing at Mangino for losing this game? He had our team in position to win at the end, up 18-13, against an A&M program that is all about football and has a lot of talented players from the state of Texas.

Do some of you really want to fire Mangino and start all over again like K-State is doing right now with Ron Prince? I don't. We've gotten this far and I think it's only going to get better from here on out. We nearly beat A&M and Nebraska with our 2nd-string QB. Kerry Meier struggled against Toledo in his first game on the road as a redshirt-freshman. Everybody panic in 3...2...1...

We should have won this game today, no doubt about it. However, there's no reason to point fingers and start blaming the coaching staff. We've got to start winning as a team and losing as a team. This throw in the towel crap every time we lose a close game is ridiculous. So we're 3-3, big deal. I truly believe we can still go 8-4, most likely 7-5 with some big wins and some fun days ahead. The season's not over guys. I felt going into this weekend's game that A&M would be our toughest home game all season.

I'm disappointed like everyone else that we let yet another one slip away. Time to watch some more college football and hope that the Chiefs win tomorrow. Next week we've got Collison and Hinrich back in town on Thursday for the Bulls/Sonics at Allen Fieldhouse, Late Night on Friday the 13th, and a home football game vs. Oklahoma State. Things could definitely be worse.

    Fear the Brick
Did Wooly ever flat out blame injuries for a loss?  I was stunned to read that according to Mangino, JCCC-L is the only team to have injuries and that those injuries were the only reason they lost the game.  Not Mangino's clock management (he left 2 timeouts on the board), not his team's inept play calling, not the fact that the defense couldn't get a stop when it needed it...nope, it was the fact that JCCC-L had iinjuries and no other school has injuries at all.  What a complete joke.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

What I loved is how the news kept playing the quote "we bounced back after Toledo... We bounced back after Nebraska... We'll bounce back from this."

When exactly did you bounce back from Nebraska, coach?  Was there a moral victory sometime during practice last week?

Very Woolite-esque comments after Saul's points about "close losses".  They have no idea how much they sound like Wooldridge defenders, except even Woolites couldn't rationalize how a Baylor loss was good.

Quote
Terry Allen got blown out by bad teams. I guess San Diego St. and SMU don't ring any bells with you.

aTm is 7-1 and has beaten MU. Baylor went on the road to CU and won, which Texas Tech couldn't do.

OSU took aTm to OT and lost only because they couldn't make two extra points.

They aren't USC, but they are far from bad teams.

Quote
Because, Saul, losing a close games means you were at least competative. Losing in a blowing means you ain't squat. Sabe?

Quote
Saul, since you don't see the games, and I'm sure you saw little of the 2001 team, you don't see what we saw. Games that were over in the first quarter. Guys quitting all over the field. Guys sleeping on the bench. Guys spending more time fighting over space around the heater than worrying about the game.

Nobody is happy with the results this year. The only discussion here is whether Mangino deserves another shot because he's playing with a very young defense and his best QB has missed a lot of time.

Some of us say yes. Others say no.

All I can say is, canning Mangino now is going to set us back another two years.

They are having such a "K-State basketball 04-05 season" its not even funny:

Toledo, Nebraska, aTm, OSU and Baylor remind me of Rutgers, Nebraska, Texas Tech, Texas, and Oklahoma.

"But we played those guys so close" sounds like I did. :(

When mangino was constantly playing top 10-15 north teams he got blown out.  the last time he played a legitimate top 10 team they lost 70-3 with their best team in 20 years.  in 03 with their second best team in 20 years they were beat by a top ten ksu team 38-6.  He can stay as long as he wants.

In some ways, Mangino is more like Asbury and Wooldridge like Terry Allen.  Mangino has managed the postseasons like Asbury, but the program really wasn't ever gaining momentum after the first "surprise" postseason birth.  Wooldridge and Allen were both likeable guys who really were probably in over their heads at a BCS school.  ku just has there Asbury and Wooldridge mixed around.  The hope is that ku won't hire a Huggins for football after the Mangino era is over.
