Getting a virus is essentially a non-issue if you realize that the "Dark Knight Blu-Ray" torrent isn't a 10mb .exe file

Really, other than private trackers which still aren't guaranteed safe, there is nothing you can do, because to the RIAA and MPAA programs like peerguardian are absolutely worthless.

Not downloading something that is really popular shortly after it comes out is smart.  Also, try and know who keeps a close eye out and who doesn't - Microsoft for example doesn't want you to download Windows, but they would rather you pirate their software than use somebody else's software.

I just always make sure there are a few comments posted already on the ones I download.

figure people would be all "watch out guise this is a virus" if it was a virus :dunno:
are you really answering your own question from a couple of months ago?

So is demonoid really that great? Seems pretty ok, but nowhere near as cool as the more secret ones like waffle.fm. Would much rather have an invite from one of those. But that may be because I already have a demonoid account from when they had open registration for a weekend.

Add me to the list of those looking for a demonoid invite. I tried "tehparadox" as was suggested, and I find dl'ing from mininova and TPB is easier. Maybe I'll get used to it (tehparadox), but until I can get on to demonoid, I'll probably just stick with those two.

What is it about Demonoid that makes it so great? Speeds? Variety? Naked chicks?

demonoid is solid it has a lot of members and a lot of different stuff so it castes a wide net. waffles is best for music but demonoid is nice sometimes to grab on old tv show or movie. im a member of a few more private sites that are better depending on what you are looking for but i use demonoid. icatmember send me a pm with your name over at demonoid and if you ratio is good i will invite you to waffles.

for those out there that want to join torrent sites you gotta share what you download they all work on ratio. so if you delete them from your computer too soon and thus you cant share you ratio will be low and you will be kicked out. i always leave my computer on and seed all the time. its not hard to have a good ratio just download the popular tv shows or movies and build up some credit in your favor before you go for that thing that has a few seeders and is huge in filesize. so if you ratio is 1 that means you shared (seeded) a torrent as much as it cost you to download it. for music i just let them seed forever since they are small but films or tv shows ill will always wait until i pass 1 before i delete and will usually seed more depending on the situation. my ratio is around 2 on the sites i use

if you dont want to mess with torrents (although its super easy) and just want music use google blog search and type the band and or album and there is prob some blog out there giving it away

the torrent program i use (im on a mac) is called vuze but use to be called azureus its good. do a search on google to download it for free

i can invite other wildcat fans to demonoid just pm me. demonoid doesnt tell me how many invites i have it just says i have a limited amount. so i will try to bring as many of you as i can in

think of it is a private torrent geek convention...makes ISP hacking and spying much more difficult for third parties...but not impossible.

i dont think there is a limit on demonoid you have to keep but on others they will say keep it about such and such or you will be banned. but its not hard to keep a good ratio

Yes,  I know how private trackers work.  You get better dl'd speeds with a required min. ratio

I use torrent-damage.net, they have .5 requirement
