I'm with Rusty here.  If we had any consistent running game, I'd agree with playing Meier, but we don't.  I think the risk/reward on the scoreboard is more in our favor, both for this year and in the future with Freeman behind center.

Say what you will, but I think you've got to give Prince credit for sticking with his plan.  It might've been easy to come in with a more "traditional" offense, with a power running game etc. and perhaps win more this year with Meier.  But then you're going through the same growing pains next year when you impliment the new stuff.  If he can get it to work, in the long run doing what he's doing this year will pay bigger dividends.  The move of Freeman to #1 after the Baylor loss makes more sense under this plan as well IMO.  We'll just have to wait and see if it works.

While I think there has probably been some surprises for Prince, some he handled better than others, I still think he's following his plan for the program and not just making stuff up as he goes.  Granted, I think he's learning a ton and his inexperience is showing, but I think there is a plan and he's trying to stay with it as much as possible.

Freeman's ability to spread the field and pull some of their defenders out of the box should help our running game get established.  Agree?

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

It should.  The threat to go vertical will hopefully force defenses to pull one out of the box, but Freeman will still have to prove himself.  I think the next couple weeks we'll still see defenses load up the box and blitz a ton until Freeman and this offense show the ability to burn them.  Granted, I don't think Meier had the arm to do that at all, but his intelligence kept him in the game.  I think now Prince is showing he's willing to live through some mistakes to see if we can indeed exploit defenses and open things up.  I also hope he's willing to impliment some more motions, shifts, and formations to go along with that.  Should be an interesting game to watch saturday to see what we do.

Agreed.  If he doesn't connect on at least a few of his attempts they will ignore him and reload the box.

Defenses were doing this to DM by default, Baylor was running 9 in the box at times.  This is a big reason Freeman saw the field.

Our options are limited right now, actually, we don't really have any if you think about it.  Our Oline cannot establish the run without the QB's help.  They're just not good enough.  Prince saw that and realized that after Baylor the defenses were only going to get tougher.  Let's get Soul-Glo in now, some experience against a weaker OSU team, and hopefully we'll be able to have some sort of a threat by the time NU comes calling.

That's exactly correct.  There is no better week to start him than this.  The only other week to start him would've been the 1st one, and I'm sure he wasn't ready then.  He might not be completely there now, but the benefits of going with Freeman outweigh the negatives right now.  Hopefully he can make a few plays and light a fire under this offense.  Or at least get it smoldering.

This has been talked about before, but this facet of the game (or lack thereof) is simply amazing to me.  I hope Josh is allowed the time to throw the ball down the field.

Agree with both comments.  I thought last week at Baylor was a bad situation for Josh.  We were on the road and behind playing against a pretty good defense with an experienced secondary.  I'll stand by my comments in that game Dylan gave us the best chance to win and Josh had little chance.  That might not be the case in the future but I think for that game on the road with Baylor's past record our best chance was to stay with the senior not mistakes and hope tht Baylor would self implode like they had in all their other close games this season.

I like the set up better for Josh vs. Oklahoma State.  We're at home and their defense isn't as good as Baylor's.  Plus he's had a full week to prepare and the other players have had a week to get used to him as the QB.
