Sucks we lost, but we played well overall.
Very much like the UT and A&M games except the pokes made the pivotal three at the end.
Think Frank is getting about 90% of potential this team; that's damn good.
We played much better this year than most would have thought and still can do some damage.
Plus, I still really like this team and program.  Not the best talent-wise, but play with a lot of heart and represent KSU well.

I'll slap it on myself to save you the trouble.

It's really sad that some of us are content with going to the fracking NIT.  Sorry if I don't see home post-season games as a suitable replacement for going to the Dance.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

What a joke, Fatty.  I suppose I can only prove my EMAWness by pretending to be satisfied with the current situation.

Agreed. If anybody would have told me before the season that we'd still have a shot at the NCAA's in March I would have been thrilled. NIT postseason experience is better than no postseason experience at all.

Did you actually think we were going to make the NCAA's at the start of the year?  Our talent is garbage.  We start Luis Colon and Darren Kent.  It's amazing Frank has been able to "coach up" these losers to the NCAA bubble.  Next year, as the talent increases, I will have much higher expectations.

well said! (minus the insults) both of the players you named showed growth at times... this season is far from a waste, and the key players will be much improved for next year... i just hesitate to drop the "now we are a national contender" tag on the incoming recruits... we weren't with bill and mike, but might have been in their second year together... putting "higher expectations" on a batch of multi-star freshman is reasonable, expecting an automatic big12 championship and national contention is not only unfair but also insane... i'll just say we'll be better :kstatriot:

now let's do some EMAW damage in the big12 tourney and the nit

Darren Kent wasn't a loser when he made the plays that won the Nebraska game that put us in this position. The only loser I see here is you. The kind of person who is too dumb to understand when his own team lives up to expectations.

"Garbage talent" probably overstates the problem, but the talent on this team isn't obviously NCAA tourney-level.  Frank did a great job even getting us into the conversation, playing ABOVE our talent level (and recovering from the first half of the season when we played below our talent level IMHO).

Great season, Kahtz!  Let's roll the NIT (or win the Big XII tourney!).

We Start Darren Kent and Lu Colon . . . the fact that Kent has become a "go to" guy should tell you all you need to know.   Kent is a nice story, essentially a no talent who has been coached up to produce something, but guys like Kent can only take you so far.

I still question some of the stuff Frank does, but overall he's done a good job this year.

Call me whatever, but if we are in the NIT we might as well enjoy it as much as possible.  And frankly, this will be a solid NIT field.  Look at some of the teams and names in there and it certainly isn't some easy tournament to win.  Since the NIT was taken over by the NCAA, its become a much more legit tournament with a much more legit field.  Granted, the NCAA is still the goal and what you strive for, but getting NITs once in a while, especially in a transition year like it has been for us, shouldn't be viewed the way it once was IMO.  Make the most of it and enjoy more college basketball.

Absolutely agree.  Of course I will always prefer an NCAA bid over the NIT, but I don't view being ok with the NIT as "settling" for the NIT.  It is what it is this year and postseason play is a positive result for this team.  I also think that playing in NIT semifinal and final games could be more mentally beneficial to this team than a first round exit in the NCAAs.

Sucks to be out of the NCAA tourney picture, but it was fun getting wrapped up in all the bubble talk.  But its not like we'll never get another chance to make it, we've got help on the way next year.  Imagine what Frank can do if he doesn't have to rebuild the roster from one year to the next.

I'd much rather have a 69 year old coach than one that weighs 400+ pounds.

I'm thinking 6-10. But yes, I do agree with this...

People have definitely taken the coaching job that this staff has put together this season for granted.

LOL, we could beat USC for the third time in three years.

I remember back in '05 when we were all hoping to actually crash the NIT, then we got snubbed and everybody was all like "WTF?" Fast forward four years and we are about to finish with our third straight 20 win season, a third straight post-season appy and a third straight top four seed in the Big 12 tourney and everyone is livid we might have to settle for the NIT in a rebuilding year. And it is only going to keep getting better. Just a little more perspective.
Show me defense.
