Kansas State has converted only six of 39 third downs during the past two games, but if you think that's bad, come to a news conference sometime.

The Wildcats were a season-low -- probably an all-time low -- 3-for-28 in terms of attendance at Tuesday's media gathering. In other words, only three of 28 requested players showed for the conference.

"This is ridiculous," one veteran scribe said repeatedly.

Who would have thought the Wildcats as a group could disappear faster than their offense?

The turnout was so bad that K-State's football team only mustered a tie with Bob Huggins' basketball team. While defensive ends Ian Campbell and Rob Jackson and backup tight end Michael Pooschke were the only football players who ventured to Bramlage Coliseum, Wildcat hoopsters Blake Young, Akeem Wright and David Hoskins arrived for a photo shoot to promote the team's Oct. 13 Midnight Madness event.

Still, after back-to-back losses to Louisville and Baylor, maybe a tie isn't so bad for the K-State gridders.

Basketball season, anyone?

Um......Prince.....This is NOT the way to have your team represent Kansas State University!!!!!

Chapter 18 from Prince's book is entitled "Now You See Me, Now You Don't, A Study In The David Copperfield Method of Media Relations".

I love it.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

No one should have to talk to the media if they don't want to.

I really hate the sense of entitlement these media people seem to think they have.

No one likes the media, not the people who give the information and not the people who receive it.

Don't you find it ironic though for a Coach who has made himself and his team into such a media darling?

I wonder if ESPN came into Manhattan to film their piece they did last summer about Prince now how or if things would go.

This guy made his bones in the media, he deserves the 28 requests and more.

it's actually an old story, the same report came out after the isu game.

i just find it hilarious that there are even 28 player requests.

at this point, the media should be demanding more time with the coach and assistants -- that's where the story is at.

Prince was a genius to have suckered in the media so heartily, getting them to say positive things about him.

And an even greater genius to have somewhat shunned them now.

Assistants are off limits and have been since media day in August.

can't have McCarty fielding questions.....

With so many of the athletes no-showing, does it point to possible truth in the rumors about defections of immense proportion or unrelated?

I don't think the athletes "no-showed".  I think the press asked for 28n people and Coach Prince only allowed the 3 to show up.

This week, 16 players attended after sports information director Garry Bowman moved the briefing to the Vanier Football Complex in an effort to increase participation.

The weekly conference will remain at the Vanier facility throughout the remainder of the season.
