It's interesting Awaji was in the game at that time. As well as he played, I don't think he's were Sutton is defensively yet. With the corn inbounding from the baseline, Suttton could have came in. Given the failed box out and other second shot opportunities we gave up late, I'm surprised Frank didn't make the change.

umm..Awaji was seeing more playing time because NU was giving Sutton the Whisky treatment and basically flipping him (and any other ksu "big") the middle finger once they stepped 15ft and out, just beggin those dipsh#ts to shoot it (samuels was a mason).  I like Sutton at the 4 and kent at the 5, with Clemente, Pullen, Brown/Awaji filling out the rest of the lineup.  we should start that way from the tip againt OSU.

Naw rather keep him as a 6th man, you know a spark plug to fuel the team to more victories.

Everyone is talking about how he is emerging offensively, but the guy is one of the best athletes on the floor at any given time, hopefully he can be used as a lockdown defender who has the ability to score, but isn't looked at a go to guy. Also, Watching him pin the ball on the back board at the end of the game was the nicest defensive play I've seen from us in a while

you need to watch more bball.  he let his man go right past him to get the ball.  with a good defender, the ball would have been rebounded by ksu.
"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

Yeah, it was a nice make-up play, but the guy got to the rebound b/c Awaji failed to block him out.  He did a great job of defending the guy on the shot with a short shot clock, but then didn't make sure his man didn't get to the offensive glass.  Fortunately for him his athleticism allowed him to still make a great play.

Yep everyone boxes out a 3 point shooter, while trying not to foul.

He put his hands up so not fall into him, if would done this miracle "box out" it would have been 3 FTs. Instead he was a basketball player and still made the play.

This is a decent point.  I suppose there is a balance somewhere betweening making the shot tough, but still being in good position to keep the guy off the glass.  But agreed that Buchi made one heck of a play getting back to block the shot.

I find it funny that Buchi got a dunk (he's about 6 foot 3)...and our bigs RARELY get a stuff.

He's instant offense . . . but his D is a little suspect . . . he can dunk with ease and is a good shooter . . . but his D is a little suspect . . . he's great coming off the bench as a "change of pace" player . . . but his D is a little suspect . . .

Yes, the defense argument is very

Not only is sutton's D overrated, but  Sutton's offense (especially against a team like NU or basically any team that realizes he can't shoot and throws him the middle finger when he steps outside 10f) is not good.  There was a series in the 2nd half where we had nice ball movement, swung it around to Sutton, who's just standing there on the wing by himself (steps inside the arc) and bricks a shot....Frank immediately subs in Awaji and within a minute damn near the exact same rotation occurs and Awaji drills a 3.  Sutton just needs to get some Hoskins film and embrace who he is.

so should Frank.

Sutt should still shoot about 1000 3's a day this summer, though.

Now that's how you get out a f***ing blood stain.
come on sys!  awaji has had 2 average games in a row thus qualifying him as next savior of ksu basketball.  remember how great fred brown was in the eyes of fanz about 3 months ago.  he was going to carry ksu for the next 3 years.
