You can't be racist and like basketball.

    shame on you, non-believers
Probably because K-Staters are more familiar with Sutton, with him being in the Big 8/XII.

Would they be laughing at Sutton if they weren't more familiar with him?  Would they have embraced Huggins if KSU was in CUSA?

Did Louisville or Marquette fans say "what a shame" Huggins' DUI was?

No idea, but like 176 said, it is an excellent question. Perhaps age has something to do with it as well? Success as a head coach? I'm guessing the latter has a lot to do with it.

I'm not sad, but I think the situation is sad.  His press conference quote about "falling to temptation" was a little much.  Should've probably done a released statement with that one.  I'd say some of the stuff Huggins got himself into is sad too.

I will say Sutton being old, being from the midwest, the connection to Iba (loose connection to Hartman), and that the majority of folks commenting around here are from similar "roots" factors in though.  We feel like we "know" Sutton, but we don't Huggins, and the stuff we do know is mainly negative besides that he wins a lot.  Plus, whether right or wrong (despite being a beacon of how to get transfers) Sutton doesn't have the "Thuggins" rep.  Sutton's mistakes are related to his abuse of alcohol and the NCAA stuff at uk, whereas most people look at the number of players that Huggins has had with negative reps, the NCAA stuff, then the DUI last year on top of that.  It seems to be more cumulative for Huggins, plus again, he doesn't look like some grumpy old man, but more of a slick, grumpy younger man. :)

Hypocrisy?  Probably.

I know I feel for the guy b/c he had problems (personal and NCAA related) at uk. seemed to move past them and start fresh with OSU, put them in the national spotlight, and ran a pretty clean program. I think most people like to see guys go out on top (retire) with respect and honor. Feel good story, you know.
Huggins, I don't hold anything against the guy, don't even know much about the situation.  From what I've read people are more concerned about his types of recruits than the DWI...In all honesty, who hasn't driven after 1-2 drinks? It's not right, but it is all about not getting caught.

I think both situations are equally sad.

    The very best.
&@#% Sutton.

The hugs he gave to Collison and Hinrich was an absolute bushleague (sp?) move imo.

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.
