Kansas State University will name Kirk Schulz as its new president today, giving the job to a Mississippi State University administrator with a love for research and college athletics.

Schulz is young. Not sure what type of experience you need to be a university president.  He's a science guy, instead of history, so that will be a change.  Wonder what recruiting ties he has in Mississippi (jk).

It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
Did he hire Dan Mullen?  If so, impressed.

guys- i basically looked at all three of these guys early on and did some in depth evaluating. this is the only guy that wasn't a total doofus. just look at his picture and then do a google search on the two doofuses (twofusses?) we didn't hire and try to tell me i'm wrong.

ed. note- don't really do this. it would be a waste of your time.

Well, he's saying the right things...

“Success of football and men’s and women’s basketball has brought good exposure to the university,” he said. “K-State’s national reputation has been enhanced because of athletics.”

"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

No scholarship speech.  No theories on what MLK would've said about the game.  Good start.
