OT:  Do you tip the Sonic servers?  I mean they just bring you your food and thats it but sometimes I feel like I need to tip them when I've got my kids with me and I order a sh*tload of food.  Espeically when they have to fidget with their little change dispenser thingys.  And what about the ones that go all old school and come out on roller skates, is that worth a buck or two?  Or what if its really cold?  I've never tipped them before but I don't want some chick squatting over my cherry limeaide before she brings it out.

 :dunno:

I never even thought about it until an ex-gf always bitched at me when i didn't. still don't and won't. I'm pretty sure if you roller skate you get a little more pay out of the deal, may be wrong though.

Yea, I know a girl that used to work there and brags about her Roller Skating skillz.  Might challenge her to a race around deadman's curve, or a derby if you can do those 1v1.  Anyways, she said she got paid considerably more for her skillset.

DQ food is not that good.  Plus it pisses me off when I'm in the drive thru trying to get on damn ice cream cone and the dude in front orders 2 burgers.  The DQ's never park anyone and run it out to them.  You have to wait 10 minutes for the freaking cone.

In terms of Ice Cream/Desserts, imo: Braum's > DQ > Sonic
In terms of food imo: Sonic > DQ > Braum's

Cheddar Peppers are awesome, and the toaster sandwhich/burger at Sonic are pretty good

This just blew my mind. I'm not in any way second guessing you as I don't know the facts about each of the above eateries, but did you take the fact that today is opposite day into consideration when making your list? I'm very surprised that braums has the worser food then the dq and also surprised that they have better ice cream/desserts. Is this true??? TIA.

Well first off, food is different for different people, so your list could be different.
I had Braum's the other day (in webb city/joplin MO) and the burger was pretty soggy and  :yuck:, while the fries (crinkle cut) were pretty good.  Braum's has that Baskin Robbins style ice cream thing at the counter with a lot more flavors than DQ/Sonic for an ice cream cone, and they have the waffle cones  :lick: . I've only been here for a while and only eaten at Braum's for supper once, so my experience could have just been below average. DQ has pretty crappy burgers as well imo, but I love the popcorn shrimp or chicken tender basket with gravy or the hickory bbq sauce...also fried mushrooms. That is > Braum's food imo. Sonic of course has the delicious Ched 'R Peppers and Ched 'R Bites and good sammiches/burgers and of course the Chili Cheese Coney.

As for the shakes and whatnot at Braum's, I'll go back soon and try something besides the cone to compare with DQ/Sonic. The cones are definitely way better @ Braum's though. Best ice cream at a fast food place for sure.

Thanks for the speedy response. It sounds like you need to explore the Braum Menu a little more (no offense). Please report back when you do so. I would also love to hear more about these Ched 'R Peppers if you have the time.

Ched 'R Peppers are just Sonic's name for Jalapeno Poppers. They are the cheddar variety, as the name suggests. And they are quite tasty for fast food.

Here's the deal though...Sonic is kinda a weird place to get food from and a place that I would rather avoid if given the chance. These ChEdRR things have been mentioned multipled times and I am trying to figure out if they are worth "it".

1)How much are they money wise? Please keep in mind that I don't have a lot of money to spend on stuff like this.

2) How many of these would I have to get to "fill me up?" Would this be possible?

3) Are the jalapenos big jalapeno pieces or small pieces?

4) What kind of cheese is involved? Sorry for putting this question last, it's probably the most important.

1) Off the top of my head, around 3 bucks. They are a side item
2)You get 4 jalapeno poppers. If you are new to jalapeno poppers, it is basically a jalapeno that has had all the spicy innards removed and replaced with cheese. It is battered and deep fried. Being a side item, they are not  really filling by themselves, and I use them as a french fry replacement from time to time. I wouldn't reccommend trying to get full on these, for 3 bucks you could get 3 double cheeseburgers at McDonald's.
3)Whole
4)Cheddar. Other restaurants have them in the cream cheese variety.

Might want to look into "Snapp's"...

Once upon a time, Burger King sold very delicious “poppers”, which were cheddar and jalapeƱo bits mixed together, coated and fried. They were very delicious, and very cheap - four for one dollar. But then, for reasons unbeknownst to me, Burger King stopped carrying them. That was close to five years ago. Since then I have been on a rather elusive hunt for a replacement popper. I found very tasty ones at stores and restaurants, but they all consisted of a fry coating too thick, and a halved jalapeƱo, rather than the diced bits I remembered from Burger King.

Snapps Cheddar & Mild Jalapeno Pepper Bites Then I stumbled across Snapp’s cheddar and mile jalapeƱo pepper bites. Not only was I lured by the great price - one dollar for a box of eight, but by the picture, which clearly showed diced bits of a jalapeƱo, rather than an intact halved one.

Five weeks and four boxes of cheddar and mild jalapeƱo pepper bites later, and I can safely say that I’m hooked. They’re cheap. They’re delicious!

I'm still pissed off at Sonic for eliminating the Hickory Burger from their menu.

IMO an order of O rings and a ginormous fountain drink is the best summertime snack.  If the Sonic chick is hot and on skates, I like to imagine Roller Girl from Boogie Nights is bringing my order.

Isn't special, really.  Reminds me of baskin robbins. Very "airy" product, with lots of sugar.  Not as good as say, coldstone.

Guys- did the snapps thing today and they were great. $1.25 at walmart and you get eight of them. i slightly overcooked though and a lot of the filling leaked out. totally did not matter though. still great. thumbs up and repped to the op.

I don't know of any other drive up fast food joints, therefore there is no competition for sonic.  Wrap your mind around that.

I think that's where I messed up. I got the medium (and it was amaretto, which was like absurdly rich). Then I insisted upon finishing the whole thing since I paid for it  :banghead:
