So the Royals right now are in position to select either Strasburg (assuming he doesn't sign with the Nats) or the chosen one Bryce Harper in next year's draft. If the Royals end up getting the 1st pick who would you take? I'd say without a doubt Harper. Mainly for the pub he would bring.

No way dude.  Gotta go with the guy that they could plug into their rotation next year.  That high school kid isn't going to be an all-star next year but Strasburg could be a nice starter right away.  Also, who the frack cares about pub?  Of course, the Twins passed on Prior to draft Mauer and that obviously worked out pretty damn well.  But, Mauer was from the Cities, so the whole city kinda rallied around that.  But Prior did win a ton of games his first year.  Hell, that is a hell of a question.  But, it is a pretty nice situation for the Royals to be in.   :dunno:

Wait, isn't he not eligible until 2011?  Says they're trying to change the rule, soi he can leave after his junior year, next year, but that didn't work out too well for the NFL guys.  But, they draft 16 year old kids from the DR, Venezula, etc, so they might have a legitimate argument.  Check out this article, it has the MLB rule concerning high schooler's eligibilty and a list of the like 5 guys that have ever went straight form high school to the show.

From all I have read it sounds like right now Harper is eligible for next year's draft unless something is changed...

Edit: according to a story in the KC Star this morning it said he will become eligible according to MLB rules for the 2010 draft he he so chooses to... I think you have to take Harper here... I mean we already have 3 solid pitchers for the future in Greinke, Hochevar, and Crow we need to start bringing in some top talent position players and this amazing player would be a great start...

Do you have a link?  It's not that I don't believe you, but I looked around their site and can't find the article.  TIA.

I think it is hilarious that nobody has been in here in a week...anywho

Gordon was sent to the minors yesterday, just in time to delay his free agency by a year. Nice job Dayton!

My Twins are officially in mid shut down mode.  The Royals are busy being the Royals again.  Right now, I &@#%ing hate MLB.  Seriously, I've been watching regional little league baseball instead.   :suicideispainless:

T-bones aren't very good this year... last time I saw they were 10 games under .500.

Thought about making the drive up from 'nsburg to watch this but then I heard that he is only going to field for one, maybe two, inning(s) and will probably not face any live pitching.

Can anybody tell me about this kid that I've heard is going to be the #1 pick in the draft that they call the LeBron of baseball (Bryce Harper)? I guess there's a pretty good shot that the Royals get him.

Kid can hit a baseball over 500 feet with a wood bat and he is only 16 maybe 17 now im not sure. Can throw the ball 96mph but doesn't want to be a pitcher. Kid is a freak and I hope the Royals get him, I could care less if he has an ego.

Greinke has 15 strikeouts through 8 innings so far. That's the most strikeouts by a Royal in one game.  :royals:

Yet the Royals will somehow find a way to lose that game.  Sad, really.

Well if we won't spend money wisely on free agents then why spend money wisely on the front office?

The BBTN nugget of the night. Greinke followed up a 15-strikeout start with a complete game one-hitter on Sunday. He is just the fourth pitcher to do that since 1900.

Pedro Martinez -- Sept. 4, 1999 (15 Ks) and Sept. 10, 1999 (1-hitter, 17 Ks).

• Randy Johnson -- July 11, 1998 (15 Ks) and July 16, 1998 (1-hitter, 11 Ks).

• Vida Blue -- July 9, 1971 (17 Ks) and July 16, 1971 (1-hitter, 9 Ks).
