Can't win it with 12 wins.  At this rate, Hochevar will have a better record than him.

Royals acquire OF Anderson in trade with Tigers

BALTIMORE (AP)—The Kansas City Royals have acquired outfielder Josh Anderson(notes) from the Detroit Tigers for cash.

The trade was announced Thursday before Kansas City played the finale of a four-game series against the Baltimore Orioles.

The 26-year-old Anderson hit .242 with 16 RBIs and 13 stolen bases in 74 games with Detroit this year. He was designated for assignment by the Tigers on July 24 when Carlos Guillen(notes) was activated from the disabled list.

Anderson is a career .283 hitter with three homers and 39 RBIs with Houston, Atlanta and Detroit. He is expected to join the Royals on Friday in Tampa

All hail Dayton Moore...  :notworthy: The king of signing irrelevant players...

Trading Deadline news.....

The Yankees called and asked about Brian Bannister. The talks broke down because the Yankees wanted the Royals to pay the $650,000 left on his contract and the Royals said "no". There are also stories that Bloomquist and Mahay may still go.

The bullpen didn't allow any runs today  :royals:

And we still lost 7-3.

Since when is $650,000 in this organization chump change? (Unless you are being sarcastic)

that's not very much in baseball terms, the problem is you have to preface your comment by specifying the amount to the Royals, to most of baseball that is not a lot of money.

Well the point I am trying to make is that the Royals are historic for not spending money and being a cheep team (even if they do spend a lot of money on crap players.) They will never just eat $650,000 on a whim because a team doesn't want to spend as much on him... I do agree that it is sad that the Yankees of all teams don't want to spend the extra money to get the job done...

The Marlins are in on Bannister as well according to Rumor Central. I'm also hearing talk of Mark Teahen to the Mariners. Also the team is actively trying to move Mahay. Bannister, Bloomquist, Mahay and Teahen. This could be an interesting day for the Boys in Blue.

Maybe the Royals just want to milk the Yankees for everything they can.  If I were an owner, I'd pretty much avoid dealing with the Yankees unless they completely blew me away with a deal.

So what do you all think... knowing Dayton Moore and how he likes to run things... Will we either or any of Bannister, Bloomquist, Mahay, or Teahen by the 3pm deadline?

I'm thinking the Yankees saw the Bentancort deal and were like "Hey, Let's see how much we can get outta the Royals!"

W/e does happen, we will get fracked...

"STARK: Price on Bannister
The Royals were telling teams that called on Brian Bannister that they were looking for a deal similar to what Seattle got for Jarrod Washburn, reports ESPN.com's Jayson Stark. In other words, they want a big-league ready starter and a pitching prospect with upside. The Yankees were believed to still have modest interest."

Yeah good luck with that one Dayton...

    Catch it!
I swear the back end of our rotation is the dumbest bunch ever.  Walk navarro to pitch to the 2009 most clutch hitter.  ???

Yeah, why would anyone who is trying to contend trade a starter for a starter?

Granted, I don't mind keeping Bannister.

James Shields has a no hitter through 7 innings now against the Royals. The score is 0-0 still.

edit: Buck got a single in the 8th to break up the no-no & the Royals scored 2 runs to lead the game 2-0.

Bannister had a nice outing with 7 shutout innings and Soria got the save in 6 outs.
