So the bluejays are asking for any combo of draft picks and prospects, what would you give up for doc?  He is only owed 15m next season.

Nothing. We'd only get him for a year and a half. We don't have much to give in the way of prospects. Pitching isn't the biggest problem this team has.

Well that was no fun

Sorry, I'll play along. The Jays want a short stop, right? TPJ for Halladay straight up. That seems fair.

Leadoff walks just murder this baseball team.  Gotta stop giving those up.  I think Lefebver said 80% of them end up scoring.

I hope Greinke pitches no more than 2 innings if that in the all-star game... he seriously needs some rest...

This was his last start before the ASG, so there's a good chance he will.

Honestly I'm gonna miss you Mark!!
I want to know what dirty little secret Tony Pena Sr. has on the Royals org, to keep his inept son in the clubhouse for so long.

Settle down still 3 innings left... Bullpen has plenty of time to blow it.

One of our message boarders and his wife and his brother and sister in law and a few of their friends got George Brett's tickets for next friday's game.  George will be honored for being amazing or something.

The Next home stand if I remember right is the opening of the Royals Hall of Fame... could be wrong though.

I think you are correct.

I'm wondering if they will be dedicating the spot on the HOF window at which Albert Pujols' home run hit.

We'll see in time if this trade the Royals made today was a good move or a bad move... The SS they picked up is solid but they traded away probably one of their best minor league pitchers...

Yeah, the gave up Saito and Cortes for Yuniesky Betancourt. I don't like the deal, but on the plus side, we'll have a short stop hitting above .250!

Someone not named tony pena jr does not mean a solution.  YB strikes out a lot, walks little, has little power, and in no way was worth giving up quite possibly our best pitching prospect.

Cortes in his 2nd year at double a wasnt having quite the year he was last year.  He is a very immature kid and was most likely 2 or 3 years from making an impact at the big league level.  Just relax a bit.

That isn't what I hear...

I wasn't clear.  I meant in relation to the number of walks.

In acquiring Betancourt, K.C. comes up short

Friday, July 10, 2009 | Feedback | Print Entry

The Royals kicked off their offseason last winter by acquiring Mike Jacobs, a player so limited in skills that acquiring him made little sense even before considering their superior in-house alternatives. Jacobs has, predictably, flopped, both at the plate and with the glove.

On Friday, the Royals topped that move with an even worse one, trading for Yuniesky Betancourt, who might very well be the worst everyday player in the majors , and actually giving up something of value in Danny Cortes, a hard-throwing pitching prospect with command and makeup issues, and Derrick Saito, who projects at least as a lefty specialist if the Mariners choose to push him up the ladder.

Betancourt does nothing well on a baseball field. He can't hit and has lost bat speed since reaching the majors. He hacks at everything he sees, and even swings at pitches thrown to other hitters. He has next to no range at short. And he never hustles on anything -- not balls hit in his direction, not ground balls he might have a chance to beat out (well, before he let himself go physically). Other than all that, he's Honus Wagner.

That is a blogger's opinion that YB is the worst everyday player. Keith Law (KC Royals hater) spent 4½ years with the Toronto Blue Jays as a Special Assistant to the General Manager, I mean WTF? Just because you get coffee for the GM in Canada doesn't mean your an expert about baseball. Keith writes for a blog on ESPN & not a column.

YB makes us proud  :royals: :dancin: :woohoo: :excited:

From what I've heard of Betancourt, he has a cannon arm and 5-tool type talent.  However, he also has work ethic and attitude problems which have hampered his abilities.
