Agreed but I only, ONLY, want middle relief.  I'm telling you d00ds, we are going to lose a lot of games between the starters coming out and the mexicutioner coming in.

EDIT:  Prove me wrong Kyle Farnsworth, PROVE ME WRONG

I don't know.  How many is "a lot"?  Will we lose some, absolutely.  The guys in middle relief aren't good enough to start a game or finish it.  Middle relief pitching is generally where teams lose games.

I understand looking at the 40-man doesn't get me thrilled when they'll have to go to the bullpen after the 6th up a run or two.  But there are servicable options:

Tejeda
Bale
Gobble - as LOOGY
Peralta - not sure what happened last hopefully he can regain his confidence.
Farns - even though I don't like him he is still a power arm.

Here is a list from RC, don't know if its up to date past the 1st:
Relievers
Luis Ayala (31) - Type B, not offered arb
Joe Beimel (32) - Type B, not offered arb
Joe Borowski (38)
Shawn Chacon (31)
Chad Cordero (27)
Juan Cruz (30) - Type A, offered arb
Elmer Dessens (37)
Brendan Donnelly (37)
Scott Elarton (33)
Randy Flores (33)
Keith Foulke (35)
Eric Gagne (33) - Type B, not offered arb
Tom Gordon (41)
Eddie Guardado (38)
Jason Isringhausen (36) - Type B, not offered arb
Tyler Johnson (27)
Jon Lieber (39)
Aquilino Lopez (34)
Will Ohman (31)
Al Reyes (38)
Dennys Reyes (32) - Type B, offered arb
Ricardo Rincon (39)
Rudy Seanez (40) - Type B, not offered arb
Ken Takahashi (41)
Julian Tavarez (36)
Mike Timlin (43)
Ron Villone (39)
Kip Wells (32)
Matt Wise (33)
Jamey Wright (34)

Signed Banny, arbitration avoided.  Still have Jacobs and Teahan to get done.

Who else do you want?

Nunez  :blank:

Why?

A 4.92 career ERA in 159 ML innings?
1.415 WHIP?
102 Ks?
21 HRs?

Remember, Nunez was acquired for that bum Benito Santiago.  A bag of balls in that trade would have been worth it.

Ok, we disagree on middle relief.  I say we are garbage at middle relief, you say we are fine.  Let's wait and see who's correct.   :users:

If serviceable and fine are the same thing then, yes.

You say garbage, so finish in the bottom 3 in the AL?

I can't wait for the MLB season to start, I think that .500 is a possibility with this team. My mock batting order:

1) Coco Crisp CF
2) David DeJesus LF
3) José Guillén RF
4) Mike Jacobs 1B
5) Mike Aviles SS
6) Billy Butler DH
7) Alex Gordon 3B
8) Miguel Olivo C
9) Alberto Callaspo 2B

^This is a pretty good line-up with some pop, I still think that Moore should still try & make some moves before the season.

Guillen isn't a good 3 hitter. He's more of a 4-5-6 guy. Coco Crisp should hit in the 9 spot.

My line up:
DeJesus OF
Aviles SS
Jacobs 1B/DH
Guillen OF
Gordon 3B
Shealy DH/1B
Olivo C
Callaspo 2B
Crisp OF

Gordon and Shealy could change spots. Callaspo and Crisp could as well. Crisp will probably lead off some for us, but I just don't think he's an everyday lead off hitter. I also think Butler might start the year in AAA (Would be good for him).

I think we'll be middle of the road. We lost some big parts (Ram Ram & Nunez), but we return most of it back and added Farnsworth. I'll consider the Farnsworth signing great only if he has an era of 2.50 or knocks out AJ Pierzynski.

Butler 1B/DH
Olivo C
Bloomquist / Teahen / Callaspo 2B

How is Coco Crisp not a good leadoff hitter may I ask..? If the dude can do it in Boston..I think he can pull it off in Kansas City. (Dejesus struggled last year when he was in the leadoff role, he is definitely a better hitter in the 3 spot) Either way, I'm glad we actually have options this years, usually we are kinda stuck with what we have..   :woot:

DDJ hit .307 with a .366 obp. Coco only hit .283 with a .344. Jacoby Ellsbury led off for the Sox last year. Until we find a true lead off guy, DeJesus will continue to be ours. I'm sure Coco will lead off from time to time, though.

The team can be .500 or better with a garbage bullpen, or so you claim.

The bottom 3 in the AL is for the bullpen not the team's standing.

Contextual reading, just asking if you thought the bullpen would be in the bottom 3 of the AL, because they are such garbage. :dunno:

But hey dude, keep on truckin'. :Driving:

the bullpen would be in the bottom 3 of the AL

I would say our middle relief (I like the closer obv.) will be in the bottom 1/4 of the AL if we make no additions and very well could be bottom 3.

Well 1/4  of 14 is essentialy 3.5, that's what I figured you were thinking.  I think they'll be a little better than that though.

Who has the better season Davies or Banny?

I have always had a soft spot for Banny.  Don't know where it originated from.  Maybe because we got him pretty cheap and the Mets were made about it :dunno:

Unfortunately I think Davies will, but not by much.  Likely they both will be a little worse than league average.

Us having 3rd/4th/5th starters that are just a little worse than league average would be a pretty good improvement though, right? :dunno:

Ya if the bottom 3 of the rotation can improve from last year, I def. feel .500 is within grasp.  But to contend a big move would probably be needed towards the deadline, to make that final push.  Or if Kila is hitting like he did last year he could give the team boost, but with the multitude of first baseman I wouldn't plan on seeing him this year.  Maybe Brayan Pena can really impress similar to Aviles last year.

Yeah, I'm not really thinking we contend.  A lot will depend on how the rest of the division plays.  The AL Central is weird imo.
