For all the Debbie Downers and Hill haters...  :)

* You really can't say enough about Kansas State and the job coach Brad Hill is doing this season. The Wildcats, with a series win over Texas, basically punched their ticket to an NCAA regional barring a major surprise. Just an amazing campaign so far this season and they actually are very much in the Big 12 title race. KSU is in fantastic shape down the stretch if it finishes off a sweep of the Longhorns.

Where are we at in your rankings?  :ksu:

16. KANSAS STATE
Last Week: 2-0-1. Overall: 31-11-1, 10-7-1 in Big 12 (7-7-1 vs. Top 25). Weekend Series: 6-3.
Kansas State won its second series ever in Austin, and first since 1997. Jr. RHP A.J. Morris (9 IP, 8 H, 2 R, 1 ER, 2 BB, 5 K) needed 141 pitches Friday to fire his second complete game of the season and pick up his school-record 10th win of the year. Sr. OF Jordan Cruz homered twice Saturday, and Fr. OF Nick Martini (3-for-6) singled home the winning run in the 12th. Sr. SS Drew Biery's two-run single in the eighth Sunday gave K-State a lead that it relinquished in the ninth, and the game ended in a tie after 10 innings due to a travel curfew.
RESULTS
April 24-26: @ (5) Texas: W 4-2, W 5-4 (12 innings), T 6-6 (10 innings)
UPCOMING
April 28-29: North Dakota
May 1-3: @ Oklahoma State

UC Irvine retained the No. 1 ranking in the Baseball America Top 25 rankings thanks to a pair of midweek wins against Oregon and a weekend series win at Utah.

The top four teams in the rankings remained the same, as Irvine, Rice, Arizona State and North Carolina all posted winning weeks. Cal State Fullerton and Mississippi each jumped up four spots to Nos. 6 and 7, respectively. The Titans swept UC Davis over the weekend and allowed only one run in the entire series, while the Rebels took two of three against Georgia, which slid from No. 8 to No. 11.

Kansas State continued its impressive season by making the biggest jump of any team the rankings. The Wildcats won the first two games of their series on the road against Texas before the finale ended in a tie, enabling them to vault seven to No. 16. Fellow Big 12 member Texas A&M also made a sizeable leap, moving up four spots to No. 20 thanks to a series win over Oklahoma State that put the Aggies in first place in the league. Baylor, which has lost six in a row, plummeted eight spots to 17th.

Three teams returned to the rankings this week. Clemson bested No. 10 Georgia Tech over the weekend to return to the rankings for the first time since mid-March at No. 21. The Tigers are joined by Florida, which swept its weekend series over South Carolina, and East Carolina, which knocked off Southern Mississippi.

staff of Baseball America determines the Top 25 rankings. Records indicated are through games of April 26 and do not include ties.

We should have locked up a spot in a regional with this series win against Texas. Another good series was we split (1-1) with #1 Arizona State. I doubt we would host a regional unless we win out (win Big 12 regular season & tournament titles).

I would love a Big 12 regular season title, we are in good shape because we have the advantages over Texas (2-0-1) & Texas A&M (2-1). We just have to keep on winning. We have 9 more Big 12 games left against Tech, Oklahoma St., & uk. Here are the Big 12 standing as of today:

didn't mizzou host a regional a few years back?  were they much better then than we are now?  i like our chances with mostly bottom half teams left on the sked.

Yes, we hosted in 2007 and had a significantly better conference record in addition to a better RPI and SOS. I think K-State we'll get that opportunity but it is difficult to just break into the thing and host. The selection committee tends to show a lack of respect to programs that aren't perennial powers.

Mizzou is a perennial power?  You know that, prior to 2007, Mizzou had never finished higher than 4th in the conference?

I am not saying that we aren't going to host a regional, but we have never been in this position before. We have 13 (9 Big 12 games) more games left, we can't afford to go 7-6 & expect to host a regional. We have to finish strong to even be considered.

^This says that the next projections comes out tomorrow, & the article also says this:

Quote
Potential hosts to watch between now and Wednesday include Clemson, tcu, Florida, Oklahoma, Texas A&M and Kansas State.

I wouldn't call Missouri a perennial power. We have to string a few more successful seasons in a row to get to that group. What helped us host in 2007 was the fact that we had been to every Regional since 2003 and had received significant hype in both 2005 AND 2006. We underachieved greatly in 2006 (preaseason #10 just like MU was again this year) but snuck in as the last at large and won the Malibu Regional.

K-State will have a small chance to host this season but a much better one in the future due to this season's recognition. It also costs a fair amount of money to bid on a Regional and I would imagine that the K-State athletic department probably hadn't planned for that expense at the start of the season.

4-5 d bags along the first baseline showed up at the bottom 3rd IIRC. had some great quotes such as.

"we drink beer and smoke crack in manhattan!"
"my dad owns oil and gas"
"i've had two rotator cuff surgeries and i can throw harder than that"
"he ripped the tits off that"
"he ripped that one out my ass"
"lets go katz, we ain't got crap, football sucks with old balls now"
"we've sucked 20 years, now we're better cause we recruit better players"
etc

and these all included "bras" "doods" and "baby" plus many vulgar words as well.

dudes sounded like they're the biggest batkat fans but didn't know the games are free for students, you can't buy chew at the c-stand,  and called the big 12 the "big X i i (eye, eye)

^The new projections are out & we are the #2 seed in the Fayetteville region, here is what the region looks like:

1) Arkansas
2) Kansas State
3) Eastern Illinois
4) Missouri State

I would like that regional, tough mid-majors but beatable.
