    Catch it!
The part that a lot of baseball fans have a problem realizing is that anyone that can throw hard is probably in the professional ranks.  If a kid can come out of high school throwing low to mid 90's hes got millions thrown at him, why go to a college and possibly screw all of that up.  Instead of heat you get a lot of kids that have mid to high 80's fastballs and weak offspeed pitches.  Eventually the good ones will develop the essential pitches and when to throw them.  In college the best pitchers are either at elites or is trying to develop more speed and a good offspead pitch.

Another thing people have a hard time realizing is that coaches aren't near as good as in the professional ranks.  When I was with the royals they stuck some of the best coaches as feild coordinators and double a or triple a coaches to "coach them up" but in college you can hit or miss with a coach.

anyone who knows sports knows the farm system has killed the college game.  College football and basketball are the farm systems for their respective leagues.

Yeah, if you enjoy a step above high school baseball.  Watch talented teams at A-AAA ball and you wont want to watch it anymore.  There is a reason why no one really covers it until Omaha bro.  No one cares.

Hell, even Omaha has become a glorified home run derby.  No way should good baseball teams find themselves in a game where both teams score double digits.  I'd like college better if they took those damn metal bats away.  I saw little Mark Kotsay hit a ball off the Subway (later a swbyps, I think.) sign up by the lights at L-D one year.  &@#% that crap.

Yeah, its simply amazing how many people would rather go watch a WSU game than go see a Wichita Wranglers team that featured Alex Gordon, Billy Butler, Chris Lubanski, Mitch Meier, and Zack Grienke.  The move to Arkansas was the best they could do because people pack that place and its unbelievable the support.  I agree with the metal bats, they are big boys and most of them play in wood bat tourneys in the summer time so make em move to woodbats permenantly.  Games would be more competitive and guarentee come World Series time the games would be a better level of compitition.

I also understand the love for the college game because it is your school and there is a sense of pride, but when you put the two side by side affiliated ball will always win out.  Its something that probably wont ever change becuase there just isnt a very big market for college aged "little leagues" if you're picking up what im laying down!

I saw Billy Butler put one in the Omaha Zoo parking lot last year with a wooden bat.  Was pretty impressive given his lack of power shown in KC.

Yeah billy can drop bombs but he just isn't ready for the bigs yet.  He might actually turn out alright but he will struggle at times and look really good at times.  Just put wood bats in these college kids hands and games will be better.

Mostly true but not entirely, there a bunch of real good college pitchers every year in the draft.

Unless you are referring to the worst draft pick in baseball history... Colt Griffin.

Well yeah, I tried to explain that guys good enough to go pro will go to college to develops more velocity and solid off speed.  Some guys will really come out of nowhere.   I'm not sure but a good example might be the kid from mizzou.

They're not home again until April 9-11 against A&M.
I'd much rather have a 69 year old coach than one that weighs 400+ pounds.

I'll set the over/under at 3.5 wins for these seven games.  Any takers?

Jesus, that's a pretty stiff roadie.  Course, I guess Nubb isn't all that good right now, but still.

yeah, beat Northwestern twice this week.  If we would have taken 2 out of 3 vs. OU instead of 1 out of 3 we would probably be in the top 25.  But, we will probably drop three in a row at Baylor.  Winning one at Baylor is a victory imo.

Hey SD,  do you think we'll make the tournament?  I have low CBBIQ.

Not sure how baseball selection works compared to football or basketball.

Almost certainly not.  Even if we make a regional we have to win the regional tourney to get to a super regional tourney to get to the CWS....I mean, it's possible, but, you know.

The thing about baseball though is if you have enough talent on your team to compete you can beat pretty much any team at the D-1 level... as shown by ku sweeping #2 texas last weekend... while eventually most of the good teams make it through super regionals there are always some surprises... K-State has probably one of there best teams they have ever had offensively under Brad Hill this year so I guess we shall see how far the hitting can take them and how much the pitching can improve as the year goes on...

Well, considering our record is 1-2 in the Big 12 I would guess not very damn high.

Ohhh, I was just talking about reaching a regional, not the CWS.  Just to get to a regional would be good enough for me.  I have low expectations of all things K-state.
