Martinites . . . UNITE!!

OK completely serious here. if the people NOT melting down tonight are Martinites, what are you?  Are you officially done with Martin?  If not, then what should be done?  I don't see how you have a position that is any more clear-headed than anyone else around here. Who or what are you valiantly raging against?

Chin . . . yet another resident drama queen.

I just LOL at how some on here defend a very poor series of coaching efforts.  K-State does not have a great team, but there is more to work with there than what is being shown on the floor . . . an no amount of flailing around about how KSU didn't recruit well during a couple of periods in recent years, and how Beas and Walker aren't still around anymore, or trying to say I want the Triangle offense back is going to change that reality.  As of right now, this is not a well coached team . . . period.

Was the Jack Hartman teams from basically 82/83 season through the 85/86 seasons poorly coached?  I mean, the dude was the greatest KSU basketball coach ever yet didn't make the NCAA and finished no higher than 5th out of 8 f'ing teams.  Or was it because Ro wasn't there?  or Mike Evans, Curtis Redding, Lon Kruger, Chuckie Williams?

LOL . . . when did I say that you didn't need talent to win??  But since you bring it up, one of Hartman's greatest teams didn't start a guy over 6-5.   Plus, none of the guys you mentioned were all world studs, they were just good basketball players who were very well coached.

Sounds like NU.  Difference is I think Sadler is a better Xs and Os guy than Hartman.  Prolly won't help him win NU's first ever NCAA game though.

so Lon Kruger was the Big 8 Player of the year (TWICE) because Jack coached'em up?  I don't give a sh*t if he coached a band of midgets to the tourney, he f'ing sucked once talented players didn't come to KSU.  That's the point.  KSU doesn't even have 2nd team All Big 12 caliber players on it this year.  Jack was running around with NBA players and All Big 8 players.

What I don't get is this:  if you think Frank is a terrible coach, why WOULDN'T you want him fired?  It makes no sense to me.  I don't want him fired, so I can't really logically think he's a terrible coach.

Thread after countless thread about how horrid our "high school" coach is makes no sense if you don't want him fired.

I would respect you a lot more if you just admit you want him fired.  I can understand that position.

Chin . . . why would I want him fired, didn't I not say in another thread that it's on the job training for the guy??

Right now, he's behind the curve though, he's pretty much clueless as to what to do with this team.  We'll see if that changes.

I'd like a study done on the relaxation factor of visors/shell necklaces.  I'd imagine that it impacts a person's relaxation at least 20%

Okay . . . well if you want to tell yourself that Hartman's teams were loaded with all world talent than go ahead.  Plus LOL if you don't think there aren't several guys on this team that if they pull their head out of their ass and start playing smarter aren't capable of challenging for at least 2nd team All Big 12.

Plus, you take Hill away from Martin, add another 20 years, give him health problems, and I can gurantee you Jack Hartman whose tenure ended under the same conditions would coach circles around him.

sd . . . I can tell just by your comments you're getting all   . . . but hey, you keep telling us you're all   LOL.

what I'm telling myself is that Frank needs to recruit better.  there's pretty much a correlation between talent and winning.  Like, Wooden is the greatest coach ever who, not coincidentally, had some of the best talent ever (mostly paid and bought).  so maybe Frank isn't the best "coach"? maybe.  but I really just can't stand the "coach'em up" crap.  it's the same with snyder.

The only reason people still think Frank Mangino can coach is because we beat ku last year.

Go ahead and  :powertard: me, don't really care

Frank - 0-6 against BCS basketball schools this season

If all you need is talent, than there should be at least 5-7 National Championship banners hanging in Hofheinz Pavilion at the University of Houston, and Lou Henson should've hung at least 2 or 3 in Assembly Hall.

Wooden had awesome players, a corrupt "friend of the program"  . . . but he also had a great system, and built teams that had great chemistry.  He last national title team was pretty good, but not really all that talented compared to some of the other ones he had.

no ones saying it's ALL you have to have, but some would help.  This team doesn't have anyone at an All Big 12 level.  Not one.  And probably no one at a 2nd team All Big 12 either.  Maybe when they're seniors they'll develop into that, but who knows.

Okay, well if that's what you need to tell yourself.

So let me get this straight . . . as of right now we don't have any all Big 12 players (in a league with lots of talent) so that translates into looking like a bunch of asshats, committing 21 turnovers, and losing by 20 at Nebraska.

Got ya.

If NU ends up going to the Tourney, then we should fire Frank.  Otherwise, let's all do some meth and relax.  I'm not saying that Frank doesn't have obvious flaws, I'm just saying that the focus should be on recruiting.....be pissed that Self landed Little instead of Frank....be pissed that Frank gave a f'ing scholarship to a kid that couldn't make it through a quarter of a basketball season...be pissed that the other JUCO recruit that Frank brought in this year sucks.....don't get pissed about losing @ NU.  Huggins did it too with a far better, more experienced team.  I thought we should win, but I'm not pissed that we didn't, or rather I'm not pissed because the team turned it over 21 times, I'm pissed about the players we currently have sucking.

Unless your name is Bob Huggins, Bob Knight, Roy Williams or Mike K, then no coaching doesn't make a big difference.  All the other coaches are basically the same +/- a few wins a year.  The difference is the players.  ku goes back to the tourney 30 years straight because of the name on the front of the jersey.  And news flash this years team is full of terrible/underdeveloped players.
