    The very best.
Who will start next year?

I'll go

1)Dylan (looked the best in 2004)
2)Webb (Won 3 of our 4 conference w's the past 2 years)
3)Freeman (Highly recruited..must be good)
4)Evridge (Very lackluster last year...but was just a frosh or whatever)
It is a tragedy because now, we have at least an extra month without Cat football until next year. I hate wasting my life away but I can hardly wait until next year.

A good list. I probably would switch Freeman and Evridge though, just because of the experience factor.

F 3,

I think that all the QB's listed have good attributes and if we could mix them all together and come out with a QB with the best of all the above, we'd have a first class leader.

Since we can't do that, I'm sure that Prince will evaluate and go with whomever wins the job in Spring and Fall practice.

My order of preference is:

1.  Meier
2.  Evridge
3.  Webb
4.  Freeman

I really hope we can get some playing time for Freeman in non-conference !
I love the smell of peat in the evening.  That smell, you know that earthy smell...  Smells like...whisky !

With the West Coast Offense, I think Dylan will start.  When I thought about it, I decided that Webb will be second, given that we're going to work on the short passing game first.  Webb can throw those 5 yard outs.  It's the downfield game that flusters him.

Hard to say at this point.

Certainly, Meier will be the guy to beat if he's healthy.   He throws a nice crisp ball and is very accurate.

Evridge will be next followed most likely by Lopina/Webb and then Freeman.

Freeman will redshirt.

I bet there's a rotation at the beginning of the season with a someone pulling ahead by the middle of the year. I hear to much about Lopina. Could be the bad hype we heard about some WR's that never panned out.

The rotation will only happen for one of two reasons:  A)  We are ahead more than enough that our defense can protect it, or B) someone is ineffective.

Meier is a student of the game.  Lopina is a like a junior Dylan Meier.   Evridge is the middle brother.   Webb, will most likely have to fight to just to stay ahead of Lopina unless Webb really matures.

Webb's biggest issue is that he becomes easily flustered and can't settle down.  He always had a cool rhythm when he was in control, but when he got in a jam, it affected the rest of his game.   Football in Snyder's offense was about using the smarts of the playbook.  Meier was by far the next Jonathan Beasley.

I will have a much better understanding once I see it in person when I get to Manhattan for the Spring game.

Yeah...Webb is horrible against teams with a tough front seven.

Terrible vs kuX2, OU, Fresno

Decent: @CU, vs isu both in 2004

Great: @mu both years, vs NU in 2004

I have no doubt had we played Webb vs atm and Nebraska we would win those games. CU is a strech, but I have a feeling Webb would have ran wild vs both of those teams. It bothers me that Snyder gave up on Webb to quickly.

Evridge was awful in 3rd and long situations. Something like 3-52 in 3rd and 8+ yards situations. Webb converted three 3rd and longs on the drive vs MU that gave us the lead.

Not to nitpick, but that's such a myth that Webb was a good QB against NU in '04. He was a glorified RB, which was fine that game because NU sucked so much ass we didn't have to pass.

Umm...I don't really care if he ran or passed. Bottom line is he put up 45 points on Nebraska, the highest total we had the whole season. We threw the ball 8 total times vs NU in 2002....and scored 49 points. He doesn't need to be a great passer, he just needs to be efficient. 14-23 124 yards isn't bad. Considering he didn't throw a pick.

Now that being said, I don't see Webb being anything better than above average even on his good days. But...I do want to win in 2006 and Webb as a senior can hopefully be enough to get us to 7-9 wins.

All you've shown is that Webb was inconsistent.

There are two sides to a ball game, and defense has to be played well.  Evridge wins @ NU if we don't break coverage against Beck.

That wasn't Webb, and you're talking about two different systems.   Roberson didn't do as well against NU in Lincoln against a much improved defense, that wasn't enough to save Solich.

That's true about the different systems, I just really think Webb as a senior will be a real leader on this team and could be our best quarterback.

And are you talking about Ell in 2003? Dude kicked ass in Lincoln.

Yes, and Evridge has never had a game close to the three wins Webb has had.

The ku game was laughable. He did nothing.

Webb has the potential, and I don't count him out, but realistically, the players that have the better thinking capacity (see Prince's comments about problem solvers) and you will see Webb have some issues.   Bigger problems prevent Webb from being the QB you think he can become.

That's not to say I wouldn't want him to be the best QB.  I'd take whoever will put W's on the board.

As far as Ell in 2003, he did do very well in Lincoln, but he turned it on in the fourth quarter.   He had some problems in the first half.  I've watched that game about 10 times already this year.   He was struggling hard in the first half, not like he did in 2002.   Either way, tho, he was the first QB unders Snyder to have a winning record against the SKERS!!

It's all a matter of speculation about whether Webb would have done better.   But like I said, there are two sides.  We certainly scored enough points against A&M and Colorado to win those games.

Its hard to tell with Freeman or Lopina b/c we've never seen them play at this level.

I think of the 3 we have seen, I'd go Meier, Evridge, Webb.

I'm not so sure Webb will be a fit in whatever version of the WCO we're supposed to be running next year.  It'll pretty much be open though b/c its a new system.

I think Freeman will get the benefit of the doubt if it comes down to it b/c he'll be here this spring and he's Prince's bigtime recruit.  Don't know how much of a differenct that will make, but you have to factor that in.  I'm not saying that Prince will go with Freeman no matter what, but I think he'll want to give his first QB recruit every chance to be the man.

i'm not so sure webb will have what it takes to run prince's offense.  I'm assuming we'll need a fairly accurate arm and at this point i'd go:

1. Meier
2. Evridge
3. Webb
4. Lopina (only behind because he's never taken a snap)
5. Freeman (probably RS)

Everidge had the misfortune to play his first season with 18 and 19 year old offensive lineman.  They could not protect anybody at all for the most part, and for that he got practically killed in the pocket.  Another year in the system should pay big dividends, plus Coach Prince has a great track record with OL's.  Just look who is the top OL in this year's NFL draft, and you will see why.  I am just intrigued with Lopina.  Mucho hype for this kid and also played at one of the elite high school programs in the USA.  This spring will be the most interesting by far in a long time.

You'd better hope that kid from Minneapolis becomes an All-American at Arkansas St. then.
