The Cornhuskers are 11-4 (1-1) with wins at tcu and Missouri and over St. Louis and Creighton and losses to UMBC and at Arizona State, Oregon State and Iowa State. The Cornhuskers return 3 starters off of a team that went 20-13 (7-9) in 2007-08.
The Cornhuskers are lead by G's Steve Harley, Ade Dagunduro and Sek Henry. Harley averages 13 points/game (leads the team), 4 rebounds/game and 2 assists/game. Dagunduro averages 11 points/game, 4 rebounds/game and 1 assist/game. Henry averages 10 points/game, 4 rebounds/game and 2 assists/game. G Ryan Anderson leads the team in rebounds with 4 rebounds/game and G Cookie Miller leads the team in assists with 4 assists/game.
Nebraska is a team that people are saying could surprise this year but I'm not seeing it. This team does not score or rebound and struggles to shoot at times (I know we do too). In fact the only area that I see them with an advantage in this game is from the perimeter and from the free throw line. The Cats got off to a tough start in Big XII play (hosting Oklahoma and going to Kansas) but I see this game as the start of a big run for the Cats. Games at Nebraska and Colorado, and at home vs. Missouri, are winnable and Baylor didn't impress me last night by losing at A&M by 11. I see the Cats as 4-2 or 3-3 in conference play before that game at Texas.
