    It's a nlellephant...
Why did Frank keep him in there?  At least put him on the bench and let him now about the foul situation.  I was seriously confused by that move.  Colon isn't that good I realize, but I also admit he was playing quite well.  I watched Frank make a lot of good coaching moves last season (managing Beasley foul trouble as an example) but tonight he showed his inexperience.

Allowing the 18-0 start with poor utilization of timeouts and the Colon fiasco I thought he coached a terrible game tonight.

Your thoughts?

"these are no longer “games” in the commonly accepted sense of the term. these are free throw shooting contests leavened by the occasional sprint to the other end of the floor."

Wasn't Frank's best coached game.  But stuff happens in this league on the road, especially when your team is mediocre (at best).

And the Colon things is hilarious.  Never did I think I'd see anyone complaining about how Frank used Colon in foul trouble.  Pretty much Frank being Frank; he was so ticked at the rest of his post players he wasn't going to take Colon out.

why was your crowd so bad?
Good question.  The game sucked.  It started good.  K-State made a run to make it interesting.  The refs called so many fouls in the second half that it turned into a free throw shooting contest.

I think you guys know me well enough to know I am not one to throw a lot of flames out at KSU fans, but there really isn't much to this "rivalry" right now.  Beasley and Walker injected some briefly.  Those games were awesome.  Maybe Judge and crew can have a similar effect.  But 37 out of 39 just doesn't make a big game right now.  You need to win some games.  I also think you have a chance to do so in Manhattan.

Letting one of your 2 legit post players foul out with 12 minutes to go while still in the game is a questionable coaching move.

The game sucked.

sure.  that probably explains a lot of it.  dunno though, i've seen better atmospheres at worse games, both at the oofd and at ku.  kinda weird, but maybe not.

In the postgame, Frank said the other post players on the bench didn't deserve to go in.

LOL at 'tards thinking Colon not fouling out at that point would have changed the outcome of the game.

colon isn't a legit post player.  he was playing well and frank left him in.  we weren't going to get much more out of him then we already had and it's not like he was locking down on defense or rebounding, or helping stop dribble drives.  what did we lose when colon fouled out? nothing. samuels, a real post player, stepped up.

Cheesy Mustache QB might make an appearance.

New warning: Don't get in a fight with someone who doesn't even need to bother to buy ink.

Samuels is 6'7"
Colon is 6'10"

That makes a pretty big difference.  I'll leave this alone.  You guys certainly watch more K-State than me, but I do know K-State was a heck of alot better against Kansas with Colon than without.  I think "Frank being Frank" means he was being stubborn and it hurt his team.  I also think his coaching style is obviously not working with Sutton.  He look miserable out there.

what was it that colon was providing while on the floor that samuels didn't?
franks decision to stay with the "hot hand" LOL, and keep colon in, wasn't a risk at all.  he'd rather have colon in the game then any of the other bad post players.  samuels played better than colon on both ends of the floor.

If true why not play both.  6'7 PF and 6'10 C sounds right to me?  Also what point did he prove?  His message was that Colon was the only one at that time that deserved to be playing right?  So the only guy that he thought worthy of playing (Colon) ends up catching the bench for the final 12 minutes because of a "coaching message?"  Seems fair.  As I said, I didn't get it.

As soon as the 4th foul was picked up he became fairly useless.  Cannot defend the same way w/o fouling out.  You sited Martin's tactic of platooning Beasley in for offense and out for defense.  Well...  That wouldn't do much for us with Colon.  So leave him in until he fouls out and quit worrying about managing him in the sub pattern.  Seems pretty sensible.

Samuels played 30 minutes, more than he's played in any other game this year.  The issue wasn't Samuels not playing.  The issue was Colon was playing much, much better than either Anderson or Kent and Frank made the decision to keep playing Colon until he fouled out.  This really isn't that big of a deal and had little impact in the outcome of the game.  JMHO.

did martin make the stupid play against cole to pick up the 5th or did colon?  maybe i missed something.
it goes against conventional wisdom (keeping a luke warm hand in the game with 4 fouls), but then again, your argument that martin should have protected colon from his 5th foul by benching him and that would have somehow had an impact on this game does too.

I don't know.   Colon was having a good game.   It couldn't have hurt to sit him down and let him think about what he should and shouldn't do when he gets back on the court.     He was definitely a target with 4 fouls.

You can't be racist and like basketball.
The fact that Frank has developed Colon into a player people actually think should be in the game is far more impressive than his sometimes bizarre substitution patterns are disheartening.

It has become pretty obvious to me that the ku faithful on our board have not watched a KSU game previous to this one.

I'm sorry but LColon-blow is terrible.  I can't stand his dumbassness.  He plays hard and he plays with with heart, Ill give him that, but the guy shouldnt start for a D1 BCS conf. team.   I've talked to two people who have played in D1 basketball games, and both of them said they don't know why this guy has a scholarrship.  Granted, it wasn't during this game when they made these comments, but lol at UConn for recruiting this guy.  r

(fwiw, I don't understand why those dumbass announcers loved him so much, and yes, I probably wouldn't say this to his face [or maybe I would, because he understand zero English, as I've been told])

f*ck you Colon

I've been up all night drinking, about to go to bed, but still, frack the frack off Colon... Free up a scholie

Can't make an actual basketball move, &@#%in tard

Martin wants to keep his talent hidden for as long as possible.
