Black isn't a school color.  A true  would only wear them in purple.  Hope this helps.

*edit-  Ooh, just realized the enormously cool two tone possibilities of those boots.  Could be epic.

Actually, a true  is like THE Patriot (Mel was awesome in this flick) employed guerrilla warfare for his cause.  Therefore thinking outside the box is okay.  Therefore nothing wrong with black, or even blue and orange if you like (K-State's original school colors).
