bangkok, my favorite part of the trip. there is just so much to do there, and there is no problem finding a place to party well into the morning. if any of you are thinking of going somewhere awesome on vacation, i recommend bangkok and phuket if you like the beach. i like bangkok a lot more than phuket though, mainly because the nightlife is so much better. i will try and explain all i know, maybe would spark some interest in some of you to travel there sometime.
whore places:i guess nana plaza, soi cowboy, and patpong. first night we were shown around nana, but it is just hard to watch so we left pretty early and never went back. just super dirty, ladyboys (katoey) everywhere, old german dudes (klaus) w/ 18 yr old whores, 15 year olds yelling out "i love you long time!", some whore saw me and my group of friends and said "4 guys, 1 girl...no problem", just super dirty sh*t. only walked down soi cowboy, and was barely in patpong.
normal and hiso clubs:soooo much fun. went to quite a few, karafun (is also an after hours place), bed supper, narcicuss, route66, 808, and flix. mainly went to ones on sukhumvit. my favorite area was rca, which contains flix, 808, and route66, and is decently hiso, which is a term thrown around a lot and stands for high society. i guess ekamai is the most hiso, but it was far away from where we were at. in clubs, pretty much everyone gets bottle service. it runs about $50-$100 depending on the place, with jack being like $70ish. you get a table, they come make your drinks, and sometimes mixers are free. if you order drinks at the bar, you're kind of gay, unless it is the weekend and it gets super crowded to where there are no tables. also try and make sure they don't situate you somewhere out on the side, tell them you want a table where everyone is at and they'll usually arrange it. it is really gay in the corner, and it is a lot more fun where all the tables are at. its kind of cool cause everyone drinks to get wasted, i think it is a culture thing. i guess in south korea you are looked down on if you don't get completely hammered when given the opportunity. not necessarily the case here, but ppl still go all out. in these clubs, there is always a professional dj, and the music selection is very good.
karafun - very nice place, only went there the first night i was in bangkok. can order hookahs too. not sure how often they open after-hours, but i guess this is one of the few after-hour club that isn't filled with whores. do not remember much else.
bed supper - probably the coolest looking building. super nice inside, very modern. crowd is a little weird though, it is more of a hip-hop crowd, and a lot of hiso whores. we were meeting some ppl there so we kind of just sat in the corner and chilled, would like to explore more next time. also is the most expensive place we went to. apparently q-bar, which is located close to it is similar, but never went there.
narcicuss - crazy house club. looks like it is some alien spaceship inside. also has professional dancers dressed all metallic dancing around. girl i was meeting there and her friends took x, and i was kind of weirded out so i left there early w/o saying and went elsewhere.
clubs on rca - route66, 808, and flix/slim are all on one street, and it is quite hiso. girls at these places are super-hot, but like most are w/ thai boyfriends or at tables w/ a few thai dudes, so kind of hard to approach. plus their english is a little worse than "other" places. however that should not be your main reason to go, it is a lot of fun, and my favorite places to go. if thats your main priority go to a whore area or something. if i go back to bangkok in june for a month, i plan on hitting up rca like every other night. i barely snapped random club pics at these places cause i felt like too big of a tourist. the inside of route66 is pretty nice, there is like a main area w/ tables and a pro dj in front, couches on the side (avoid), and there is a hall-way that for some reason is extremely formal-looking. outside, there are a lot of tables and is a pretty nice area to have a smoke break or whatever. even when completely packed inside, it is still kind of chill though in comparison. 808 is set up similarly. only went there one night to watch benny benassi, which was absolutely sick. first time i've been to something like that. don't have much else to say about 808, that was the beginning of a long night for me. flix/slim is a little different than the others. the club is split into two huge rooms, one that plays only hip-hop, and the other that plays only house/techno/trance/whatever. pretty crazy because you can walk 10 feet in between, and the other side will completely drown out the other. easily my favorite place, especially the hip-hop side, since it is always packed and everyone is always going nuts. the other side is cool but like they don't play the main-stream club sh*t.
