IMO...(besides the Brown Bros.) I've always been under the impression that the recruits who truly get to see our fan base in action at a major athletic event come away feeling realllllly impressed with K-State.
That said, I'm a little confused on the scheduling of the upcoming visits for some KSU football targets.
As it stands at the moment we have 2 major recruiting weekends ahead. First is January 16th, a weekend where our Wildcat basketball team will be playing at Nebraska. The second is the weekend of the 23rd, a weekend where our Wildcat basketball team will be playing at Colorado.
I guess Snyder could always take them to the Women's game on the 17th,  , but otherwise, I guess we should all :hope: that these recruits see KSU for what it really is, and that their hosts keep them busy.

dood, the games are the least of the recruiting trip.  The parties are where they get hooked.  Ryan Young brought Mario Fatafehi to a party at my place when he was getting recruited and look what he did for us!

Maybe they will be entertained Gary Barnett-style.   :dunno:

You can't be racist and like basketball.
KSU doesn't get an advantage by showing off our dorky fans IMO.

Probably hurts more than anything.

Surely the flight into KC, followed by the two hour trip to Manhattan to check in and, then, the two hour trip back to KC for real entertainment followed by the two hour trip back to Manhattan to go to sleep has to impress. Oh, and the two hour trip back to KC to catch a plain back to FT Worth. Why not just stay in FT Worth? Oh... They do.

The HC has to have charisma to attract athletes there. BS is too old and tired. KSU should have fired Kraut and given GP the keys to the city.

There are only a handful of weekends left before signing day.  Would you rather us just not bring any recruits in on the weekends that the B-Ball team is out of town?

Ok good point & I understand that we got bit by the bug this BBall season with so many weekday games, but is January 10th not a big enough Saturday to bring recruits in?  I figured that would be the weekend we would aim to have the most people in town. As of now we have 1 visitor. Even the weekend of January 3rd or the game on Monday the 5th. Most kids are still out of school. I also understand, you have to recruit around the recruit's schedule. But still, just something that came to mind.

Not going to lie, that is also a big part of the visits. But I know another guy who I saw out for his visit and party who had a FANTASTIC time in Manhattan () and a weeks later become a Beaver anyway (see below). Just gonna lay it out there- athletic events help us more than people think they do.

I know and nobody knew how to pronounce his name so it faded fast. Still, I heard he loved the fact we knew about his visit. What happens if that doesn't even happen? His recruiting visit would've basically just been free drinks and a goodbye.

He's still a beaver which is close to a fp.  It didn't work.  Plus it's better (Especially now) to not risk a low attendance snoozer.

Very good point doom about attendance. There are definite cons to my argument- more things are involved than scheduling to a basketball weekend. I know that. I was just saying, I really thought it would be cool to bring these kids in here for KSU vs. Griffin (OU). It would be amazing atmosphere to walk in to and have Snyder lean over and tell you "Imagine this next door on Saturdays and multiply by 10". That's a sell right there.

And the hope is that we show up for conference, but we also hoped we'd show up for madness, and openers, and so on and so forth.  Not worth the risk to show lack of support.

It wouldn't be very thrilling to walk in and have Snyder lean over and tell you "Imagine this next door on Saturdays and multiply by 4". That's a fitz right there.
"Unless you're a ku fan you don't want to watch a game at the fieldhouse. You'll never see more home cooking in your life. The last game I watched there Larry got the boot and I didn't blame him a bit. Only ball game I've ever walked out on in my life, besides, the facility is a piece of ****."

I never read page 2 -100 of comments at bottom of those articles.

They need to have some rating system to move the best ones to the top.

Our fanbase (outside of us few elites) is garbage.  It's a miracle we can get actual athletes to come play in front of them.

I'm pretty sure that during KSU's run in football, KSU basketball was incredibly terrible, but not sure Jeff Kelly or Mark Simoneau or Bish or Ell or Sproles minded.  My bet is that recruits liked coming to the football games or watching the games on TV and seeing KSU pimp slap the rest of the Big 12.

We are one Dalonte Hill away from having terrible talent in both sports.  We should use that as a learning experience but I don't think Bill was paying attention.  PROVE ME WRONG BILLIAM!

KSU doesn't get an advantage by showing off our dorky fans IMO.

Probably hurts more than anything.

Does that include the dorky fans on team message boards?  (using a computer 18 hours a day kind of equals dorky IMO).

So, I wonder what would be worse for recruiting, seeing our "dorky" fans at the games, or reading the dorky posts written on this board?

so, would that in turn make recruits 'dorky' if they read message boards?  seems like a real athlete would, ya know, be out getting laid, having a brew some where or something.

What's so difficult about understanding what a dork is?

Personally, I was always more turned off by the Kansas turds than the dorks.

Boy I tell ya taking 17 year old kids to parties where they get drunk and get laid is a real smart recruiting style.

Anybody who thinks that is a big part of the recruiting process is probably emotionally about 13 years old. The biggest part of the recruiting process is the relationship that is built up between the recruits and the coaches and to a smaller degree the friendships between the fellow players and the recruits (which does involve them showing the recruits a good time but does not involve underage recruits getting laid and getting drunk (both of which are illegal I might add).

My brother went on a recruiting trip and they went skiing and rode snowmobiles (that kind of stuff).

Did you brother also have sex with men on the recruiting visit?  Cause he sure sounds gay to me.  What school was recruiting him, the Fashion Institute of America?

LOL @ this guy

If recruits aren't getting drunk and laid, then they aren't quality recruits.  Common recruiting knowledge, imo

And what proof do you have that it is common recruiting?

And by the way it was Wyoming. Schools try to find stuff to do around their area that would make it fun to go to their school. That is one reason why it is difficult to recruit at K-State. Their isn't a whole lot of fun stuff to do around Manhattan Kansas.

And by the way I'd just like to add that risking having that underage kid go home and tell his mom that their is a possibility he may have gotten some sexually transmitted disease or possibly gotten some girl pregnant is real smart recruiting habits.
